Advantages: taste
Disadvantages: cost
I have been using brita water filter cartridges for some years now having purchased a brita jug with some cartridges on special offer. Obviously I stuck with brita and now rarely drink tap water without filtering it first.
When you make tea you notice the difference as the water is less cloudy, the taste of the water plain is also better (in fact kids who never drink tap water love the filtered water!).
The downside is having to wait for the water to filter and also keeping the water cool as tap water would normally be (I don't like drinking water out of the fridge but can't stand warm water either). Another problem is the cost of the cartridges - although it's best to shop around and buy in bulk when its on offer.
It's best to change the filters once a month and clean the jug regularly to avoid bacteria building up. The filters work by taking out certain impurities and metals as well as scale. You can buy them in different size packs from most shops like boots, supermarkets and online and a pack of 4 costs about £12.99. You can use other cheaper generic brand filters in certain brita water filters.
Summary: great even kids like it!

- 21/08/09 Apologies for the low rate but you dont really tell me anything about the filters themselves, the price, how they are used, whether another filter would work in the same product. If you make any edits I will obviously come back and re-rate. :) |
