Brita Marella Water Filter
Advantages: Clean, cold water ready from the fridge
Disadvantages: Human effort in filling and replacing cartridges
I love drinking cold water when working, I know its good for me and it may sound silly but when cold and from a Brita Jug does taste nice - yes it actually tastes of something, granted nothing particular and there not rushing to make other things taste of this but its smooth, clean fresh tasting. All my close family members have water jugs, not all Brita I must admit but the bug for having these spread fast amongst us.
Although I was not particularly complaining about the taste of non filtered water out of my taps at home I know it can not compare to the clean cool taste achieved from fridges filtered water. My current jug is the Marella and I have in it red.

In my opinion Brita is the leading brand when it comes to water jugs. My friends who dont have Brita still talk about their jug as if it was one 'fill the Brita up'. It is a trusted brand and their designs are also pleasing - often in modern vivid colours.
Brita is a German company and their product range extends far beyond water jugs their other filtration products include kettles and tap attachments.
---How do they work?---
Reading more info about my Brita Jug I find that work in two ways. Firstly, the activated carbon filter eliminates bad odor and the taste of halogen compounds that chlorine makes when present in tap water. Secondly, the exchange ion resin lowers the concentration of calcium carbonates, accordingly softening tap water. Before writing this review I paid little attention to how exactly it works. Once a month I just pop in a new filter and away I go.
I was told of an offer on this jug a few months ago and saw an opportunity to but a red Brita jug for a very reasonable price and in doing so replace my boring white one. I paid £9.99 and this was reduced from £12.99, which, having previously seen these for sale at £20 I knew was a good price. A quick internet search shows that it is possible to pay as little as £7.99 for this jug.
---Does it work?---
Its not just about having fridge cold water ready to drink its about the clean taste. It works and works well. I enjoy every glass. You really can taste the difference and I know the first thing you will do is do a taste test asking as many people as possible to do blind testing.
This is a cheap way to enjoy Brita filtered water. The cartridge can be replaced and are reasonably priced but for money savers there are universal cartrages out there that will fit these jugs and offer over 50% off the price of Brita ones (4 Brita filters can cost £15, universal brand ones can cost £5.99).
Summary: Buy one if you are interested in trying filtered water or upgrade a boring white one like I did
