The Mares She Dive 5mm wetsuit is my warm water, hot climate buddy, I feel the cold pretty badly so can never really get away with a 3mm wetsuit so I have to go for the slightly thicker 5mm ones even in the warmest of climates and this suit is great for diving, snorkelling and also messing about on a surf board (or rather falling off a surf board) in my case. Designed specifically for women I paid about £125 for mine and it has proven to be a great purchase. It has seen use in the Red Sea out of Sharm El Sheikh, the Maldives, Cuba and even in Cornwall that brief time when we once had a not summer for a short spell, something that seems a distant memory now
It has a decent amount of padding at strategic places like the shoulder and knees, this is in the form of what Mares terms "high resistance rubber" which is a company trying to talk up a bit of extra protection but this is not to under estimate the importance of this. In fact the knee protection is very good and it just does not cover the knee but down the shin as well so it is great for that extra degree of protection from rough terrain under water.
What I especially like about this suit is how easy it is to get on and off, the front zip is nice and long and is top quality, it has a really smooth action and that has not diminished over time at all. The material is known as smooth glide by Mares and designed to make it easy to get off and on. This means it does not feel like a wrestling bout everytime you want to change out of it. The only slight gripe that I do have is that I like to have wrist zips as well and these would have made it easier to get off but that is only a small issue for me and I can understand why they are not included as some people I know hate wrist zips on a wetsuit. This is a very comfortable full body wetsuit to wear that provides a decent amount of warmth and also good protection against both those nasty little critters that bite and sting as well as from any abrasions andcuts that you might get.
It is very easy to clean, all it requires is a good rinse and a flow of air to dry it out fully after use. The seals are very comfortable at the neck, ankle and wrist and it helps protect me from the cold after a long time in the water. The stitching is high quality on this suit and there is no rubbing from it under the armpits or around the groin area which makes it a pleasure to wear for warm water diving.
Colour wise it comes in black with some Mares detailing on the arms and front to give it a bit of character.
It is reasonably priced and Mares are a top quality brand as well and a name that I certainly trust as I have had a few products from them over the years.
