Advantages: Cheap and very effective
Disadvantages: Nothing at all
When we were first teaching the little lad how to swim, as well as armbands, we started out with a Zoggs kickboard to help him. He initially lacked confidence in the water but with the aid of this kickboard that soon changed. We took him for regular swimming lessons at our local pool, with a proper qualified instructor, but me and his mum also took him along with us. We wanted our little lad to learn to swim as soon as he was old enough as both me and his mum didn't learn until we were adults and we found it quite hard.
We bought this board because we knew that Zoggs is a good make and also we were looking for a board that was chlorine resistant. Some of the boards provided by our local pool looked like they had been chewed through by an army of rats and to be honest, we didn't think they'd be much good. We much preferred that our little lad had his own board, as well as his own armbands.
The board was a good size for our little lad, who was six at the time he was using it. It is approximately 28cm x 23cm and approximately 3.5cm thick. Obviously not much good if you are an adult, but great for a lad of six. It was a bright yellow in colour and has the familiar Zoggs l logo emblazoned on the front. He was really chuffed with it and so was I, as I only paid £2.99 for it from our local sports shop.
We have since dispensed of the board by giving it to another child who is in the process of learning to swim but at the time he was learning it was definitely an invaluable item. We have since purchased another larger Zoggs kickboard because he likes the feel of it in the water with him but he doesn't really need it as a swimming aid any more, but it seems to give him that little bit of confidence he needs in the water still as he hasn't been swimming for that long anyway.
These are strong, durable and well made boards and they give him the confidence he needed to get started in the pool.
Summary: Definitely recommended
