Advantages: Lightweight, durable, cheap

Disadvantages: None

During the summer months, we spend most weekends at the seaside so rather than having to pack once a week, I tend to buy two of certain things so that I can keep one at home and one at the caravan. Although I don't take Lauren swimming in the sea, if the weather isn't great, we might go to the pool so I brought one of these for the caravan,

The float is really simple in design, bright yellow on one side and dark blue on the other. On the yellow side, there is the Zoggs logo in blue writing. It measures around 27cm x 23cm and is around 4 cm deep. I feel this is an ideal size for my daughter to be able to hold comfortably.

The board is made from Ethylene Vinyl Acetate, I have no idea what this is but it is like what the float you get at the baths or when you were younger is made of and not like what you can get some cheap body boards made from.

Initially, we used to get Lauren to hold the board on her tummy while she kicked her legs and swam on her back, as I said earlier, because of the thickness; it is really easy for her to hold and as this is the mini version, not too big. After using a couple of times, her confidence grew so much that we were able to remove her armbands and she can now swim on her back with just this. We have now started focusing on Lauren swimming on her front; she holds the board with our stretched arms in front of her and kicks her legs. Again, it was really easy for her to do this (we are just working on removing the armbands on this one at the minute). What I also like about this is it helps Lauren just focus on one area, for example, when we tried to teach her to swim initially, she was trying to move her arms, legs and put her face in the water and was only really able to do on thing at a time, with this, there is not that confusion or temptation to start moving her arms as they are occupied.

We purchased ours from Amazon for around £4.99 and free delivery; it is also available at places like Kiddicare and sports shops for a similar price. I think this is reasonable as we have a similar product at home from ELC which cost us £6.

Zoggs also do the kickboards in junior and adult sizes and again, I find these are reasonably priced.

Although we don't use this every weekend, it has still had quite a lot of usage yet it still looks like new, none of the writing has started to rub away nor has any of the foam started to come away etc.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone trying to learn to swim. It has really boosted my daughters confidence and helped improve her swimming so worth buying and worth the money (I would have probably paid more for it!).

I would give 5 out of 5 stars.

Thanks for reading.

Summary: A great swimming aid
