Advantages: It works as it should and was not expensive.

Disadvantages: A bit flimsy perhaps.

Having family dotted all over the UK and beyond and regularly keeping in touch with them through MSN I thought the obvious next step would be a webcam so I could see their ugly mugs and them mine. Mainly it was so aunts and uncles can see the kids and how they are growing up very fast.

I had no interest in shopping around and trying to buy the best webcam for the least expensive price, I just picked one and bought it. I knew very little about them so trying to choose the best would have been pretty much impossible for me but I feel the one I did pick (Creative Webcam NX) is exactly what I was looking for.

It is compact, decent looking and was very easy to install, it does exactly what it is supposed to and I see no reason to complain about it. I have heard from my whizz kid cousin that the cam is a bit blocky when they are viewing it if the kids are jumping and moving about a lot and this is apparently down to its frame rate but it does the job nicely for me and for less than £15 I am delighted with my purchase.

The only thing I would say about this piece of equipment is that if it were to be abused in any way such as being dropped off the unit or whacked with something I think it would break very easily so some care is needed to make sure the kids don't destroy it.
