~ My Personal Experience ~ If you like to surf the internet, chat with friends online, then you will need to maximise your experience by buying a web cam. I have just recently bought this webcam as my old one broke due to lots of moving house and being stood on being the main reason. I decided to buy the creative Pro eX as it looked colourful, attractive on the eye and slick. I tend to use my webcam for playing games on MSN Messenger and then taking delight in celebrating on my webcam when I win on poker, my brother hates that he can see me in such high resolution with this webcam. The screen refresh rate does depend on how fast your broadband connection is, but today's broadband connections should be ok to get a decent picture on your screen. You can also swivel the webcam to position it to which ever location within your room and good for doing a 3D tour of your room, if the person you're talking too is interested. I also use the microphone headset which is fabulous for taking online for free!!! I do feel at times that I could be running a military operation wearing a headset or working in a call centre, but still very fun, especially if you know how to adjust the tempo and frequency of the microphone sound produced! I normally sound like a chipmunk, very hard to understand but quite entertaining. ~ Specifications ~ - 1024 x 768 screen resolution - Microphone included - Uses USB 1.1 technology - Includes software for controlling your webcam and settings - Compatible with all Windows Packages ~ Price, Postage & Packaging ~ I paid £20 for this little webcam which I think does a grand job. The postage was free and came in a smallish box and had no problem with the order from start to finish. The resolution is pretty decent and after using it to take a few snapshots of my cat and wall I can confirm that the quality is quite good, not the best but still decent for the price. ~ Installation ~ If you're not very used to installing hardware on computers, then this is the device for you. It really isn't that hard to install, just plug in the webcam into the relevant USB slot, the operating systems says it has detected a new device and then insert the CD that came with your webcam into the CD drive and the operating system will acknowledge that it has identified the relevant software to enable your webcam to work properly. It usually takes around two minutes, easy, simple and concise. ~ Why buy this product? ~ It's easy to use, reliable; it has a first-rate picture and best of all it comes with a microphone headset which enables you to make the most of your online communication with your friends and family. They can see and hear you in excellent quality, and really useful if you are far away from your acquaintances and family and they can see you, and even better if they have the same product as you can see them too. The camera performs very well even in poorly lit areas of your house or location. The only downsides if there are any is that it doesn't come with a lens cover to prevent dust from settling on the lens, and also the headset is quite small and I have a big head so it can be quite a tight fit on my head and tend to get imprints on my head when I have been using it for a long period. You are able to compress video and send it to those who are not as lucky as some that have an excellent internet connection. There are better webcams on the market but I do like this one and it really does the job for me. ~ Overall Ratings ~ Picture Quality: 4/5 Sound Quality: 4/5 Reliability: 5/5 Overall Rating: 4/5
The Creative WebCam Pro eX is the best choice for the sharpest, clearest stills and video. This high-end webcam incorporates an advanced CCD lens to capture crisp, detailed images up to 1024x768 (still) or 640x480 (video), even in poor lighting, and a USB 1.1 connection to transfer images to the host PC at high speed. It can be used on a desktop or clipped to a notebook PC, and makes an ideal component within a videoconferencing installation.
