I bought this to replace a DCS-3220 for nighttime surveillance. What a difference in almost total darkness. The image improved a little after installing a small infrared light source to flood the monitored area. I had it installed less than 30 days, when I recorded thieves attempting to break into my car and truck, at 3:00 AM, while parked in my driveway. The video conversion for the police report was very grainy. Not as good as the playback video. Converting the video image to a series of jpeg images greatly improved the picture quality.
