Advantages: This camera works well and is easy to install

Disadvantages: Could be a problem with older PC sound cards but updating your drivers sorts this

I use the HP Elite Autofocus Web-cam at work and this product is our web-cam of choice issued to all staff that work remotely which is nearly two thousand people. We use a video conferencing system from Microsoft a bit like Skype and MSN but designed around the business user. This camera is a premium product and works great on our broadband lines.
The camera comes with its own driver CD but I have found that XP and Vista and I'm sure Windows 7 would recognises the new device that is plugged in to a USB socket and would automatically install the correct drivers. I have installed many of these Web Cams on our staff laptops and never really found an issue installing that didn't take a few minutes of tweaking some bit of software
The camera comes with a good comprehensive help section that answers many of the possible issues that could cause problems.
We use this camera on 10 Meg broadband lines and find the picture quality to be of a high standard and the audio quality to be very good as well.
The device itself looks quite sturdy and could take bit of a bashing around before breaking as in my experience these cameras are usually thrown into a draw after each use
From start to finish from opening up the box I would say that it takes about 10 minutes to install and another five minutes to start your first video call
In conclusion this camera is good value for money has been designed well as it has a universal clip that would fit flat or laptop screens.
The video is of good quality and the sound inst crystal clear but is very functional
The only issue I have found is on older laptops you may need to update your sound card drivers which is an easy thing to do just visit the manufactures website or ask in the shop you purchased the PC and they will advise as sometimes older cards clash and the sound can be quite distorted but all in all a very functional camera that does everything it says on the box
