The lens optically extends to 3X with no loss in quality, plus the camera can 'digitally' zoom an additional 2X. Take pictures as close as 30 cm and as far away as you can see, to satisfy a variety of subjects and settings. The auto exposure has a manual override for more control over images. In addition, for even more control, the DC290 permits manual mode white balance, exposure lock, focus distance and exposure time.
