Linksys Wireless-G PTZ Internet Camera with Audio WVC200 video camera is able to send live video via the Internet to a web browser to any location in the world with internet access. I purchased this as a security camera so I can keep an eye at home when I'm away from home via the internet. It also works as a web cam!
This device works amazingly well for what it is. The MPEG-4 video compression produces a high-quality video stream of up to 640x480. MPEG-4 is clear and precise decoding used in many devices nowadays. This device also supports MJPEG compression for video, which basically provides good video quality at high bandwidth rates via the internet.
The video features include an IR filter cut which basically means that you can see the images in low or even no light when an IR lamp is used. The camera has a snapshot mode which when the images are taken they are saved in JPEG format. The snapshots can be set up and sent to an FTP server. If you want the video to be visible from a remote location or from the Internet, you have to open a variable port on your router and create password protected accounts for security measures which allow managing access to the camera. You also have the option to leave the system open for anyone on the internet or network to see.
The design of the camera itself is compact and can be placed discreetly if you wish. The Pan/Tilt and digital zoom function allows you to control the camera movement and focus via remote control.
With this camera you can have up to 10 users access the camera at the same time. The software included is for multiple cameras monitoring and recording directly to your hard drive with an advanced search by time and date functionality. The recording can be set up to record by schedule, motion trigger or manual recording and playback using Windows Media Player.

Overall the Linksys Wireless-G PTZ Internet Camera with Audio WVC200 video camera is an advanced and very useful security kit. The feature I like most is that you can turn on a function called security mode, this tells the camera to send a message with a short video attachment to up to 3 email addresses whenever it detects motion in its view of field set up. Then you can simply log onto the live video stream if you want to investigate the situation further. Its not just a security camera, it uses the internet to feed you footage which you in turn can view from were ever you are via the internet. I bought this from Ebay for around £100, which is well worth it for what it's capable of.
The Linksys Wireless-G Pan/Tilt/Zoom Video Camera sends live video through the Internet to a web browser anywhere in the world!
The advanced MPEG-4 video compression produces a high-quality, high-framerate, up to 640x480 video stream. MPEG-4 encoding facilitates good video quality in varying bandwidth environments. WVC200 also supports MJPEG compression for video, providing good video quality at high bandwidth rates.
The comprehensive video features include an IR filter cut which allow you to see the images in low or no light environments when an IR lamp is used. Snapshots (in JPEG format) of the image can be taken and saved. Snapshots can also be scheduled and sent to an FTP server.
If you want the video to be visible from a remote location or from the Internet, you can open an appropriate port on the Router, and then create password protected accounts to manage access to the camera, or leave it wide open for the world to see. Support for Dynamic DNS lets you access your camera using an easy-to-remember "name", even while using a dynamic IP address. The Pan/Tilt and digital zoom function allows you to remotely control the camera movement and focus, giving you maximum flexibility remotely. Up to 10 simultaneous users can have access to the camera at any point in time. Software is included for multiple camera monitoring and recording to your hard drive with advanced search by time and date. Recording can be set up to record by motion trigger, manual or schedule recording and playback on Windows Media Player without the need for a proprietary player.
You can also turn on Security Mode, which tells the camera to send a message with a short video attached to up to three email addresses whenever it detects motion in its field of view. You can then log onto the live video stream if the situation warrants. Wireless security features include WEP and WPA.
