Advantages: Very stylish and easy to use

Disadvantages: Image quality is not as sharp in dark areas/low lighting

Well i bought my daughter this webcam for Christmas (2005) as she had been bothering me for a new webcam for a while. I decided i would try this webcam out as her last webcam was a Logitech and that was a good webcam for the time it was so-called 'in'.

Christmas day came and as soon as my daughter unwrapped it she wanted to get it set up.

The packaging was basic but quite attractive as you could see the webcam through it. In the box was the webcam with a 6ft USB cable (very handy with enough length to reach the USB plug from desired place), a headset with microphone for live audio, a multi-purpose swivel base, installation CD (quick-start guide, users guide and software) and a 2 year warranty.

We got the webcam set up within a few minutes and it was up and running.

The image quality was very sharp and clear, but as it became nearer night time the image quality seemed to deteoriate, so better lighting was needed. The live video (used on MSN Messenger) was really good, it wasn't moving at the exact times i was, but seeing as we had a older version of a Logitech webcam before, and if anybody has had on old webcam, will know what i mean by 'lag time', the Logitech Quickcam Chat was alot faster and clearer.

As for the look of the webcam, it is very stylish. The multi-purpose swivel base can be used practically on any surface including on top of an LCD monitor. It also has a quickcapture button on top of the webcam for those spare of the moment pictures which i find very handy.

The webcam has a reasonable amount of software with it which includes Quickcapture, Video E-mail, and a folder for your Logitech webcam pictures.

The webcam features:

Live video up to 640 x 480 pixels
Still Image Capture up to 640 x 480 pixels
30 Frames per second live video (with recommended system)
USB 2.0 certified

System Requirements:

Available 1.1 or USB 2.0 port
CD-Rom Drive
200 MB free hard drive space
Windows compatible soundcard and speakers
64 MB Ram minium

The webcam can be used with MSN Messenger
Yahoo Messenger (Video- enabled)
AOL Instant Messenger (Video-enabled)
Windows Messenger
Quickcapture

I was very pleased with the price of this webcam for the things that it does and for the quality.

The headset with microphone that is included with the webcam is compact and very easy to use, it has a crystal clear sound and is ideal for live video chat.

Disadvantages of the webcam:
A certain amount of light is needed for a good image quality

Overall i think the Logitech Quickcam Chat webcam was well worth the money and is ideal for any home.
