The Logitech QuickCam is worth it's price. It has an affordable price to match the affordable image it produces. This can be a good starter web cam, for those interested in video conferencing or chat, but it's not for those who are interested in producing high-end graphics and video.

The stand is smartly designed to fit neatly on the top of your moniter or on any ledge. The stand is designed to allow the camera to swivel and turn easily, yet stay where you position it. The camera can also be easily removed from the stand and held in the hand. The small ring on the front of the unit allows some focussing ability. However, the 4 foot cord does not allow for very much mobility and the camera seems intolerant to sunlight.

This camera produces a great head shot, but isn't so clear if you are trying to catch a larger area and/or if there is a lot of motion. Sunlight needs to be blocked as much as possible, and the room must then be lit sufficiently by artificial means.

The software is easy to install, but there is no auto-update feature. There are several controls to configure the picture quality, including Brightness, Color Boost, Low Light Boost, Gamma, and Contrast, to name a few. Stills, video and time-lapse video can be taken in three sizes and can be saved normally or for e-mail attachment. The updated software has many options and tools for using the camera creatively.
