Advantages: It has a very good sound and video quality

Disadvantages: Troubles with the installation of the software

This camera is much better than the previous one (Sweex USB 2.0 Webcam 1.3 Megapixel).
Both webcams have the same specifications (resolution and frame
rate), but this doesn't mean the output quality is the same. The picture quality, both in daylight and at night with the normal artificial light, is many times better. In addition, the attachment to the screen of
a notebook is a lot better.

The initial installation of the bundled software went just fine. The installation of the latest version (the version of the included CD is most of the time not up to date) didn't. The installation software did not realize that there was an upgrade available (It didn't notice that there was already an older version installed on it and that the webcam already hung the notebook). The final result was that it didn't work anymore as a whole. I had to remove both the new and the old version , and after that , I had to install the latest version . Now everything works fine.

It is also quite annoying that you have to restart the computer two times during the installation procedure. You can imagine that I'm lost the count of how many times I have seen the start-up screen already.

The combination with MS Messenger 6.2 is fine. The adjustable quality of the image is good: both the automatic settings as the manual settings work very well. The option "face tracking" works well, but the persons on the other side of the computer do not always appreciate that the camera zooms in and out all the time.

The video quality of this webcam via Messenger and the voice quality (VoIP) from Skype (www.skype.com) are a perfect combination. This is an ideal way to get in touch with your family while travelling abroad. A broadband internet connection is required, but that doesn't seem to be a problem anymore in most of the European hotels.
