Web cams are great devices.

It allows people to stay in touch with relatives and friends, visually, the world over.

Not only this but it allows strangers to see what you look like via such messaging systems as Netmeeting.

But what other uses do they have and what is a good camera?

Well look at the following list and see if you agree with me.

It must have:
Good picture quality.
Reasonably priced for the home market.
Quick and easy to install.
Come with all software to get me going.
Easy to position and use at the same time.

Without all of the above, a camera lets itself down.
That is why I must reccomend the following camera.

LOGITECH 3000 USB

Logitech is famous in the Web Cam Market for providing cheap cams if not always great cams. However this is a marked improvement over the Quick Cam Express.
Good picture quality is obviously a requirement on their drawing boards today as the resolution, grain and texture of its video and still photo pictures has much improved.

Reasonable Price
----------------
You can buy these for as little as £60 if you know what you are looking for. The Express at half of this price is worth steering clear of. At £60, it really does offer superior performance and is the minimum quality you should buy.

Easy and Quick to install.

Installation is a synch. You need a vacant USB port to plug the camera into.
Auto detecting machines will then offer to install the drivers and the relevant software from CD.
About 5 minutes.

Easy to position and use at the same time.

The camera is a ball shape, like its little brother. If you lose the positioning peg out of the bottom it wont sit in the cradle anymore.
Be careful.
This does come with a great little clip though that allows connection to a
laptop or TFT monitor.

Compatibility.

One of the most common technologies for chatting on the web is Microsoft Netmeeting. This cam is fully compatible with Netmeeting so you can have hours of chatting with your friends.

My tip for the day....

Make your ISP pay for your international phone calls.
This cam comes with a built in Microphone. This is great for conferencing. You can chat and see the person you are chatting to. If you have relatives abroad, hook up via a web cam chat on Netmeeting.
You can chat all day long for the price of a local phone call.
Never pay that extortionate rate again!!
