Advantages: Small, Sleek, Works Well, And Keeps It That Way
Disadvantages: May Be Unsuitable For Older Monitors
I bought this product about a year ago, due to me living north of London, and my girlfriend living south of London, as well as friends living in other continents. I was doing awkward shift work at the time, and geographical distances meant meeting up wasn't always practicable
This webcam is great, I spent about £25 on mine but I can see that it has already come down in price. It's easy to install and it set up in minutes.
One benefit is the support from Logitech afterwards. When the software is updated, Logitech sends it through to your computer as an update for you to install at your own leisure. Also when i restored my computer with recovery disks recently, I accidentally plugged it in, it recognised it and got the drivers for me. This is something which I've never seen done before and it's nice to know that hardware is proactive in making itself work.
It's easy to use and works with all compatible programmes. Once installed the software runs nicely in the background down in the task bar and when you call it up, its an graphical panel allowing you to take a picture, or video etc. When I run Skype or MSN Messenger, they both instantly know its there and it initialised at the start of the button. You can also fiddle with the settings on the programme Logitech uses to run this, adapting the light intake and the colour etc. furthermore, there's also a microphone and lens to you can focus and speak through it as well.
Logitech seems to recognise that everyone virtually has a flat panel monitor now and has adapted it as such. On the back is an adaptable hook that can be used to have it cling to the top of the monitor, making it universal to mount and use. In fact that would be my only advice against this product is if you have one of the older, more archaic style TV monitors, but even then it can fold up and rest nicely on the desk etc.
Overall, I can't really fault this product. It does it's job and does it well, and looks after itself afterwards and keep itself in top working condition.
