      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Although I do a lot of web design, I actually use Frontpage Express for doing simple pages of text and graphics, for displaying information. The great thing is that you can knock up tables, place pictures, do bullet points and change font styles with the ease of a word processor. You can do some more complicated things too, with a bit of experimentation. You can add background music at the click of a button. The main advantage of using this package though, is the way it makes simple web pages easier to do. If you try and make a simple web page using a text editor, it can be tricky and time consuming. The worst thing about Frontpage Express is the actual HTML code that is generated after making a web page. It makes code that is about twice as big as it needs to be, although this will only worry people who know anything about HTML. This is still a great package for beginners or people who want to create web pages very fast.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Microsoft Frontpage Express 5 is a free, cut down version of the very popular Microsoft Frontpage package. Its the perfect solution for both the professional and any beginner interested in creating a website. The program interface is very similar to other applications published by Microsoft, including Word or Publisher. If you've used these before or programs like them you'll have no problems using frontpage (express) to build your website. The "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) program is really very simple to use, especially if all you want to create is a simple homepage with a few pictures. You add text to the document (webpage) like you would in any other Desktop Top Publisher (DTP). Its simple a matter of typing the text and then formatting (no html coding required). The program makes inserting pictures, adding links to other pages/websites and implementing things you may expect to see on other websites a doddle. For the professional and advanced website designers out there, Frontpage express is a great program because while allowing beginners to create basic websites it also provides the ability to add your own HTML code to the source or even write some java scripts. So the advance stuff that the program cannot do can simply can be done by modifying the code yourself. Another good thing is that when you change the code, you can quickly see the results (if any) of that change in the page preview area or you can click a button that gives you a preview in the internet browser (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer). To be honest I would not recommend this free, cut down version of Frontpage to a professional, as they would definetely benifit from the features the full version of Frontpage has to offer (the one you have to pay for, but it is worth it). Frontpage express is ideal for a beginner who wants to create a few good looking web-pages for all the world
to see. Its free, which is always a bonus, its really user friendly and I always use it because I think its brilliant. Remember professionals get the full version with all the features. Beginners stick with this free verison, until you at least learn the ropes. By DooyooExpert.
