If you are just starting out as a web designer then Microsoft FrontPage is definitely the software to use first, in order to get you to grips with it all.
If you have used Microsoft Word then it is very similar because you type text and insert pictures, etc, in the same way. You can start off with a blank page and add a custom background yourself or you can select one of the existing themes within Microsoft FrontPage so you can get straight to doing the content for the web page.
When you start the content you are most likely going to want to include buttons first so that you can link your web pages together. This can easily be done in Microsoft FrontPage because it already has buttons for you and all you have to do is change the colour if you wish and choose what web page you wish to link the button to.
Once you have done the buttons Microsoft FrontPage has many tools you can use for the content of your web page such as adding text and pictures. Microsoft FrontPage then lets you format the text to how you would like it such as changing the font type, changing the font size, and changing the font colour.
If you are already an experienced web designer then frontapge also lets you add html code yourself. This is an advantage to an experience web designer because frontpage allows you to view your website as you are coding it.
Overall Microsoft FrontPage is a very useful piece of software for creating a webpage and especially if you are new to it. It is very easy to use and I would recommend it to anyone that wished to design a website.
The Frontpage 2003 is a Great Software for creating and editing good quality websites. It consists of many pre-built Website Themes which can be used to build a website without thinking about the design. You can also create Registration Forms for your site and use them to store user data in a MS Access Database or in an Email Attachment with this software. If you have already made a Template for your Website, you can fix the layout according to your will by using this software. I have been using this software for a quite a long time to design my own websites, and I have found it very useful in completing my tasks. This is one of the best Web Authoring tool available in the market. I would recommend all the buyers to buy and use this software to create a Good Quality Website in a matter of time without knowing any kind of HTML Language.
Microsoft FrontPage 2003 has a great combination of tools and features for anybody who wants to create a website. Although the product from Microsoft may not be to the same high standards as DreamWeaver from Adobe it provides an easy to use interface much common with those of the other office 2003 series and is competitively priced.
When opening the software you will find that it is very easy to use with the main tools and functions located on the main toolbar for easy access.
With this version you can easily create a website within a few minutes by using existing templates readily available within the software. Although the style may appear out of date it is easy to create your own using tables and dragging text and images around the page for a suitable style. This is the main benefit with this software - it is very easy to use.
In addition to this, by this program being part of the MS Office series images can be copied and placed from different applications into your page.
There is also a suitable preview tab on the bottom toolstrip enabling you to quickly view your website without having to close the program and opening it within your browser.
However if you are more technically challanged and are competent with working with web languages you can use the code view to program with syntax highlighting meaning it is very easy to use and understand the different styles used without your code.
In addition to this the split view enables the coder to work within a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) environment as well as having the chance to edit the code at the same time.
Additionally the program enables users to quickly add multimedia elements and forms within the website however some of this functionality requires Frontpage extensions - which some Web hosts do not provide the opportunity to use.
However MS FrontPage does have its disadvantages. Firstly some of the layouts may not look correct in a variety of browsers, however it does do a very good job working well in versions of Internet Explorer, the web browser from Microsoft and luckily the market leader. Also for developers only a variety of languages which have syntax highlighting are support so the ever popular PHP language will not be color coded.
Overall i think that MS FrontPage is an excellent choice for anybody who wants to create their own website with ease but for the more advanced user there is some more powerful, if not pricier options available.
Though Microsoft have just released their new web design software, Expression Web, I still seem to find myself going back to Frontpage 2003. It is true that a lot of web hosting services do not support Frontpage any more, but a lot of them also still do. Expression Web may be a more modern solution with easier features to use, but the fact is that when it come to editing your page with MS Frontpage 2003 everything is sweet and simple and you can lay it out exactly as you like, something a little more difficult to attain with Expression Web. Using Frontpage it is also extremely easy to add features to your site such as forms, databases, embedded objects and multimedia. After trying out many of the web design software available out there I still think that Frontpage is the easist and best and will always find myself going back to this program whenever I run into problems.
