I purchased this Weleda Almond facial Oil from Boots for £12.95 which is for the 50ml sized bottle. It is still currently for sale on the Boots website at the same price. Amazon is also selling the facial soothing oil but at a lower price of £10.46 and offer a one time delivery of the facial oil every three months. http://www.naturisimo.com has it for sale at £13.01 and http://www.lookfantastic.com is selling it at a higher price of £14.95.
What is it for?
This almond facial oil is essentially made for caring and moisturising facial skin, especially those that are prone to dry skin. It also acts as a protective layer for keeping your skin healthy throughout the day, and can also be used to cleanse the skin, remove make up and leave the facial skin feeling refreshed.
All ingredients are natural and consist of Almond oil, Plum oil and soothing Blackthorn flower extract.
I purchased this Weleda Facial Oil a few months ago after a recommendation from a friend. The main reason for trying this product out was due frequently experiencing dry flaky skin, which would especially get worse during the winter seasons. I tried a few creams and oils but nothing really made much of a difference, therefore I decided it was worth trying this health product out, especially as it was made specifically for all skin types.
*** How To Apply ***
To apply I usually put 2 or 3 drops onto a cotton wool ball and then apply onto the dry patches on my face. I find that applying a couple of drops each time allows me to spread it evenly and reduce wastage, as the last thing I need is to apply too much and make my face look greasy. After applying, I tend to gently massage the oil into the skin, which I do with a circular motion using my fingertips. The liquid is yellow in colour and has the consistency expected with oil, which is light and runny, this is why it is best to apply a few drops at a time.
*** The Results ***
Once applied, the oil feels somewhat soothing and has a gentle cooling effect on the skin, and absorbs into the skin within seconds. This is great as I was a little worried that the oil would take a while to absorb and as result make my skin appear greasy, but thankfully that wasn't the case. The scent of the oil is pleasant, but it isn't that noticeable and it is a little hard to determine what it actually smells like, but it has a gentle fresh smell if that makes sense!
After the first use I was able to notice the difference almost immediately, my skin felt smoother and the dry patches disappeared. My facial skin also had a nicer healthier glow and felt more refreshed than before, but the most noticeable effect was the disappearance of the dry patches. The 50 ml quantity lasts a long time, as I found that a only a few drops manage to do the job and provided lasting results, meaning I only needed to reapply the oil approx every 4 or 5 days.
I would happily recommend this Weleda Facial oil, as it is designed for most skin types including gentle sensitive skin, and helps remove dry patches from the skin while at the same time giving the skin a slight glow and healthy appearance. It is quite expensive for what it is, but the 50 ml quantity does last me a good few months. Therefore I would rate this product 4/5 losing one rating for the price tag.
Ingredients - Sweet Almond Oil, Plum Seed Oil, Blackthorn Flower Extract
When I read the ingredients list on this one I thought "now this is my kind of product" - I like such lists to have few and whole ingredients, though that is just my preference and I'm not adverse to longer lists as long as they show quality over quantity.
As many of you will know sweet almond oil makes an excellent base for other oils that need to be used more sparingly and as such it is quite mild and suitable for many skin types. I therefore knew that I could use it more casually than the Weleda Sea Buckthorn and Pomegranate oils and was happy to see it combined with what I've read as 'super' nourishing and beneficial ingredients. It has a very light Yellow tone and very subtle smell that I can't quite figure out what it reminds me of - but nevertheless should please those who dislike fragrant products.
I used this particularly after the temperature/climate significantly told us 'Winter is here' when my facial skin was feeling sensitive and a bit sore. I found the oil to be gentle and soothing like a light barrier, and it absorbed quite quickly with some massaging. It didn't act so much as a preventative or very protective shield for the cold as it did a soothing balm but it isn't supposed to be - it worked well for what is was/is, all day mid-level to cold (but not too cold) weather conditioner and buffer for sensitive to normal skin. Coupled with warm clothing it did the business.
Overall I'd give this a 7.5/10 because again this product does what it claims is a gentle general/all purpose oil but does not have the extra noticeable benefits that many are looking for nowadays like regained youthfulness, extra softening, sustained results over time, firmness yet elasticity etc. (Note - this product's full size as a facial oil is 50ml, whereas the body oils are 100ml.)
