The Weleda Lavender Relaxing Body Oil is available for GBP 11.95.
The body oil is described as follows. "Soothes the senses, calms the skin and helps unwind tension. Extracts of organic lavender mixes with organic sesame oil and sweet almond oil, helping you to prepare for a peaceful night's sleep."
The ingredients are Water (Aqua), Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Coco-Glucoside, Alcohol, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Glycerin, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid, Fragrance (parfum), Limonene, Linalool and Geraniol.
The fragrance is indeed great, just because I like lavender. It is more for a relaxing bath or a lotion. With oil it acts mostly somewhat soporific, I think. In the morning I need most likely something refreshing and I lack here the scent of lemon. This is usually included in many Weledasachen. Nevertheless, it smells delicious, but does not match too much my imagination. And for something to me the price is simply too high. I am glad that I could test it for very little money Pflegeöl'm going but do not buy, because there is not enough fresh smelling me and it's just too expensive. Basically, it is very well tolerated and smells good, but I do not smell fresh enough. But again, the price is too high to me. Nevertheless, the ingredients are wonderfully to tolerate, even on dry skin, the skin is nicely moist but not too greasy. Although I will not buy me again, I highly recommend it and gladly forgive four star
I often have trouble winding down and relaxing at bed time in order for me to be able to fall asleep. And that's before my partner has even started snoring. This is why lately, Lavender products have become my new best friend. And why I bought the Lavender Relaxing Body Oil by Weleda.
What does the product do?
The product contains plenty of natural ingredients which promise to hydrate the skin deeply leaving it softer, smoother and more supple. It contains Sesame Oil and Almond oil to strengthen and nourish the skin, and to keep it looking younger for longer. It claims that it will leave you skin healthier and looking in a much better condition. In addition, the aroma of lavender promises to soothe your senses leaving you feeling calmer and more relaxed.
How do you use the product?
The product should be applied to damp, clean skin. It is ideal to apply the product immediately after a shower or a bath. You need to dispense a small amount of the product and massage it gently into the skin until it has been fully absorbed. It is suitable for use both on the face and on the body but I wouldn't put anything this oily onto my face.
Packaging and Price
The packaging for this product is not ideal. The product is contained within a glass bottle and as your hands are wet and oily when using it, you do need to take care. The packaging does look nice but it is not entirely practical although it does help to preserve the natural ingredients inside. The product will cost you around £11 for 100 ml and it can be bought from large department stores and also from a range of online website.
Application and Performance
The mouth of the bottle is open so you need to take care when pouring but is there is a sort of stopped inside the mouth which prevents it from coming out all at once. You can smell the aroma of the product immediately as you pour the product and it is very relaxing. It is obviously that of Lavender and it smells really natural. It isn't too overpowering at all and it isn't as strong as I was expecting.
The oil is gentle on the skin and it hasn't caused my skin any discomfort or irritated it in any way. As this is an oil, you won't want to use too much of the product because you'll end up looking like an oil slick. When used in moderation however, it doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy or unclean but it does leave the skin with a definite sheen. The lavender scent lingers on the skin enough to relax you but not too much so that it bothers you. Even so I use this in the night so I don't mind how it makes me smell.
The oil definitely makes the skin look healthy and in a better condition from the first application. It removes any dullness from the skin and banishes signs of dryness. It doesn't take very long before you can dress or climb into bed after application and it makes your skin feel much softer and smoother. The oil has long lasting results and it really does feel like you are giving your skin a treat.
All in all, this is another lovely and relaxing product by Weleda. It softens the skin and leaving it both looking and feeling healthier, and in a better condition. This product is thinner than normal baby oil and smells relaxing so it's worth the price in my opinion. It doesn't leave you feeling greasy or unclean, and the aroma does help you to drift off into a peaceful sleep.
Lavender is well known for its relaxing yet uplifting properties for both the skin and the mind. What is lesser known about it is that it has anti-sceptic and anti-inflammatory properties - two things that I gladly welcomed when for the first time in years my lips were invaded by cold sores! Perhaps its age combined with life and the cold whether but whatever the reason(s) I was not happy about them and was glad that I had a helper, in the form of Lavender oil on hand. In addition to using it as a shield on the more exposed parts of the body (hands, face and neck) I carefully used it around the cold sores (both when fresh and after having dried and turned into scabs) and noticed that even though the cold sores were still present and stayed as long as cold sores do, there wasn't any actual 'soreness' to the skin. It didn't hurt or later itch when using the oil and most importantly they didn't spread or resurface in later infections.
The oil has a barely Yellow tone and doesn't have as strong a smell as other branded Lavender oils I've used but that may be because there are two oils before the Lavender in the Weleda version whereas I am used to one base/carrier oil.
Overall I'd rate this as an 8/10. The oil isn't as softening as other oils but it's special in its soothing/calming properties and health care value, also a little goes a long way and it absorbs quicker than heavier oils. The main point I'm unsure about is based on people's preferences - if you prefer a bigger dose of lavender this may not be for you as it is more subtle than others I've tried, but on the other hand a milder version might just be what you are looking for.
