Advantages: well made, good sound, easy to look after and durability

Disadvantages: none apart from it's made of plastic and some prefer a traditional wooden clarinet

I got my very first, and in fact only, clarinet at the age of 10. It was a Yamaha. I loved it. From the shininess of the instrument to the easy with which the keys would move as you played. It was beautiful. I continued playing my clarinet regularly until the age of 17, where by my academic commitments got in the way of my music. Considering I haven't played regularly for a good 5 years now, any time I do take out my clarinet I know I'm going to find it in perfect working condition and any difficulty in producing sound is the result of my rustiness in playing not through any fault of the clarinet. The brilliant quality of my clarinet in fact was the reason that when I came to buy my saxophone I didn't even consider any other brand other than Yamaha. It is definitely one of the best brands of musical instrument out there and regardless of whether the instruments are in or out of regular use they last. i would recommend to Yamaha to any musician who is starting out.

Summary: A very good musical instrument, especially for those starting out
