I received this Royal Sovereign RWC-40D wine cooler as a Xmas gift, something I had asked for. It cost £249.99 and is available in major high street chains. As a bit of a wine fan, and starting to enjoy and drink it more the older I am getting I felt this was needed in my flat. I can safely say the Royal Sovereign RWC-40D in the few weeks I have used it so far has been a very good little device indeed!
One of the reason I asked for this device and now own it is its compact space. We don't all have room for large wine coolers so something fairly compact was needed. This device comes in at 87cm high 54 cm wide and 55 cm deep. Its hardly "mini" but compact is the word I would use. Especially if trying to save space in kitchens as I do. You can easily fit 28-30 bottles of wine inside which for a casual drinker like me is more than enough.
Another key style point was the black colouring which matches my kitchen. As far as I am aware this is only available in black but tis made as you would expect of tough, resistant material so won't stain or scratch too easily. The door operates on a hinge like a normal fridge with powerful suction and not chance of it popping up and its weighty so you cant run into danger of thinking its shut when its not. A very safe system indeed.
The shelves are a wire designed and the device comes with 8. These can be moved removed etc to suit bottle shapes and sizes. It is obviously lit inside to guide you in your selection.
So how does it perform? Well one of the key selling points of this device here is that it has two different units where you can have different temperatures. So following the guidelines of storing different wines you can have two different areas chilling differently. It works a treat and is all lit up by LCD display. If like me you didn't know the different temperatures to store wine you will find yourself looking them up online, storing at the right temperature and thus enjoying your wine more. Not only does it chill but chilling right enhances the flavouring.
Although the price is expensive its worth it, you may not be that interested in Wine to shed out £250 for a cooler but if like me you want to treat yourself and enjoy your wine more then this is the unit of choice. Reliable, tough, works a treat, takes very little time to chill to the right temperature, easy to control and set up and excellent from the start I would strongly recommend this to anyone!
