Advantages: Easy to use. Price. Convenient. Works quickly. Sturdy.

Disadvantages: Doesn't take really large bottles.

The Vacuvin Rapid Ice Prestige Wine Cooler is a product I've owned since last summer. I do like my wine, but I absolutely hate warm wine.....to the extent that I even like my red wine cooled (I know, I know, I'm a heathen). I chose the Vacuvin Rapid Ice Prestige Wine Cooler because I had read positive reviews about it, and having looked it up online it was also readily available and at a reasonable price. The Vacuvin Rapid Ice Prestige Wine Cooler is currently for sale on Amazon for £12.73 - which I think is a bargain and you really can't go wrong that that price.

The cooler itself is shaped like a small tapered barrel and is silver in colour. It looks quite sleek and stylish, although it's not a design that would jump out at you and it really blends into the background rather than making any kind of statement. It is metal and so it is robust and sturdy and I think will last for a long time as I can't really see how you could damage it. The wine cooler measures 20cm high and 14cm wide and it accommodates all normal size bottles of wine (up to about 750cl). The cooler consists of a freezer ice pack and the metal container, but there are no other fiddily bits to loose.

Using it is childs play. The ice pack goes into the freezer and sits in there until you want to use it. It freezes very quickly - within about 15 minutes - and then when ready it's simply a matter of slotting the ice pack back into the metal container and then putting you wine bottle in it. The freezer ice pack doesn't take up much room in the freezer and so it's convenient and doesn't significantly impact of storage space. Once the bottle is in place, the wine will chill to a nice chilled temperature in about 10 minutes - and if the bottle is stored in there between topping up glasses then it will stay chilled for about 3 hours. Lovely! The label on the bottle will also stay dry and so you don't have any wet soggy mess to contend with - which is nice, especially if you're using an expensive bottle of wine to try to impress.

The icepack doesn't need cleaning, and to be honest, I just tend to wipe over the metal container with a cloth every week or so.

Summary: Recommended.
