Advantages: not too strong, cheap, fruity
Disadvantages: None for me, I like it.
I like the occasional glass of wine from time to time and I do like to try different varieties. I don't know the first thing about wine so when I stand in Asda and look at all the different bottles and prices, I don't have a clue where to start or what to buy. I bought a bottle of this as I've heard quite a lot about it and seen it on television on the ad breaks so figured it must be decent. It's quite cheap at just £5.98 in Asda which I couldn't complain about.
The packaging is quite nice, it comes in a dark red bottle which is almost opaque. The label is minimalist and shows the Blossom hill logo in bold black writing ang a caption below stating that the wine is 'soft and fruity' california wine. I quite the packaging as it's simple so it looks quite expensive even though it isn't.
The wine itself is a deep red colour. It has a nice, rich smell, fruity with a hint of spice. I was a little worried it would be too vinegary as I prefer a sweeter, smoother taste. The wine is a little sweet but not in an over-powering way. You can taste the berries which give it a slightly bold and zing taste but it isn't too dry or strong. It's the kind of wine you can have a couple of glasses of without feeling dehydrated and needing a glass of water like you do with some wines. I like the flavour and I find myself savouring it rather than trying to swallow it quickly as I have done in the past when the wine is a bit too strong.
Overall, this is a nice, fruity wine that is perfect to drink while you're having dinner or with a good book infront of the fire, especially at this time of year! It's a good price so it's ideal to buy for casual occasions or maybe even as a gift for someone else. If you prefer a stronger taste this isn't really for you as it's quite light and easy to drink.
Summary: I like this wine, it's smooth and sweet and easy to drink :)
