A white wine that is truly a rose.

THE FLAVOUR

This wine has a very refreshing flavour. It is slightly tart but sweet at the same time and is very fruity as you drink and also leaves a fruity after taste. I think it is a good summer wine because it is so light and refreshing but we drank it at a dinner party last night and it was good in the winter too. It tastes quite strong for the first few sips but is very easy to drink even though it has got that tart flavour, it is only sweet because it is so fruity and the wine has not get a very sugary flavour to it.

WHAT I THINK

I like this wine very much but can't understand why Ernest & Julio Gallo call it a white wine when it tastes and looks like a rose. I like that I can taste strawberries in the wine, I have drunk it as a spritzer before in the summer and that is a nice way of cutting down my alcohol and still enjoying the flavour. It is very light to drink and that makes it suitable for serving with lots of different foods, I think it goes specially nice with fish dishes and that is how it was served last night with a cod loin fillet and steamed vegetables. I would serve it with red meat dishes and also think it would taste nice with a vegetarian course.

The White Gananche is best served chilled because that helps to bring out the fruity flavours, it will keep once you have opened the bottle but it is so nice tasting that whenever I have opened a bottle there isn't very much left over by the time I have finished. It is also nice used instead of white wine if you are cooking a fish pie.

I drank a little more than I should have and have not had a hangover this morning and I'm happy about that because rose wine usually gives me a headache the next day. My husband had a glass but didn't like it because he likes a dryer wine when this one was quite sweet because of how fruity it is. I think it has got quite a dry after taste but while I am drinking it is naturally sweet with fruit sugars, it is hard to label it because the wine is sweet and dry at the same time but I would say it's more sweet than anything.
