This is a very 'varietal' wine, displaying classic Hawkes Bay Syrah notes of red fruits, pepper and exotic spice notes with subtle oak integration. It is a medium bodied and food friendly style with excellent ageing potential. 100% Syrah. The fruit for this wine was hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel and concrete open topped fermenters. The destemmed fruit was fermented with both cultured and indigenous yeasts and macerated on skins at the completion of fermentation. The wine was then transferred to barrel for malolactic fermentation and subsequent ageing. After 18 months in barrel the wine was fined with egg whites and bottled in December 2010.
