Harveys Bristol Cream Sherry
Advantages: The taste and texture. The price and the way it warms me up
Disadvantages: For over 18's only. Tastes very hot
I am writing this review on New Years Eve but for some odd reason this fantastic product does not exists on Dooyoo yet. So in popped my suggestion and here, we are...
Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry is 17.5% vol it is an alcoholic drink for adults aged 18 year and over. My memories of this are from my great uncle who always poured a small tipple during the Christmas season when we visited. Sherry reminds me of cold winter weather and dark evening but also of family laughter and hot fires! The hot fires I remember now are my cheeks as I drink the sherry it is a definite winter warmer! Rosy cheeks and warm hands with this one!
Harvey's Bristol Sherry is produced in Bristol, which is about 20 miles from where I live so it is a bit of a local tipple for me. The sherry comes in a deep purple bottle. The bottle I have is 75cl and cost just under £8 this bottle has lasted me several years as I only drink a glass a year! This make is great value for money and it seems to get stronger every year!
I drink sherry in a wine glass the colour is deep dark amber I think it was lighter but the older it gets the darker it gets and the stronger. I think the sherry smells very strong it smells a bit fruity a bit like vanilla and a bit sweet. It is very hard to describe.
The taste of Bristol cream sherry is not at all creamy it is very sharp and not a drink you would down or drink a lot of! It tastes very hot and makes my taste buds party on my tongue. It tastes fruity and as you sips it out the glass; your head feels with the aroma of the sherry. It also has a very strong after taste, which lasts for a long time. The sherry is very filling and sweet in fact a bit too sweet really.
Cream sherry can be used in cooking I have seen recipes for Beef Stroganoff with cream sherry in but I have never used it for cooking. Actually, I think this sherry tastes a bit like Christmas cake fruity, tangy, sweet, a bit sickly and filling!
Overall I like the occasional glass (once a year) of Bristol Cream Sherry but it is not a drink I would drink regularly as it is to sickly and strong. I prefer the after taste to the actual taste of the sherry. This is a great winter warmer for those cold nights. But before you all decide I am an old biddy I am in my 20's! Bet that surprised you!!
