Advantages: Nice taste

Disadvantages: Drinkaware.co.uk

I am not a massive drinker. However if I am going to treat myself to a drink, albeit whiskey or wine, then it has to be a decent vintage. In the case of whiskey, well matured and in the case of wine, a good year or type.

For this reason when I felt like treating myself to a bottle of wine this evening, I chose Turner Road. This is a nice Reserve Chardonnay from 2010. It usually retails at £9.99, but at present in Tesco it is £4.99 for a 75cl bottle. Although I have seen the price around £6.99 in many retailers, so maybe the starting price at Tesco was a bit over inflated.

It is madein California and according to the clear bottle it offers 'aromas of fresh green apple, pear and bright lemon and just the right touch of sweet vanilla oak. I would say that description sums up the wine very nicely.

It is dry white wine in nature, and can be drank alone, or with a meal. Serving suggestions suggest to have it with Grilled Seafood or Pasta Dishes. I drank mine after it had been chilled for two hours whilst watching Xfactor. It did leave a lovely taste in my mouth, and unlike some dry wines did not make me grimace as I tasted it.

A problem in our house is that my wife is not really a drinker of any kind The taste of this dry wine is an acquired one, and sadly the small glass my wife had was spoilt with fizzy lemonade. This was such a shame as the taste is really quite nice, although a little dry, but it is as sweet as a dry wine is likely to get.

As my wife isn't a drinker, it was nice to see the black screw top on the bottle as at 13.5%vol I didn't really want to consume the whole bottle, even if the lovely picture of the humming bird on the label appeared to be persuading me otherwise.

So if you do feel like like a nice Chardonnay, and you see this on offer, please give it a go. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
