~Turner Road Chardonnay~
Turner Road Reserve Chardonnay is one of the californian range of white wines that I have bought and enjoyed a number of times. I have found this wine easy to drink with a meal, or as a stand alone tipple, as this bright and lightly fruity tasting wine works well in most situations in my opinion. With this being a californian chardonnay it does have that bright sunny feel that I find these types of wines often have, although I find this particular wine does have a slightly fuller flavour to it.
I feel that the taste highlights of this wine include a hint of vanilla which softly sweetens the tangy/ fruity hints I get from Turner Road. I often think this wine tastes of pear, apple, pineapple and lemon, with the wine having a rich lemon colour to it that perhaps influences my thoughts about it. I feel this wine is smooth and full yet fruity and lightly tangy at the same time, with just the right touch of sweet vanilla every now and then.
I wouldn't say this was an overly dry wine at all although it certainly has a nice lightly dry aspect to it that balances the fruity aspect quite well. In my opinion Turner Road is not quite sweet or fragrant enough for use as a wine to serve as a dessert wine and works best when drunk as a wine to go with main meals such as pasta and savory starters. As someone who prefers wines at the drier end of the spectrum I feel this wine is not overly dry, which may make it appeal to a wider range of wine buyers.
I find that the cost of Turner Road does vary quite a bit as I have often seen it on sale for £6 a bottle, yet have also seen it priced at £9 plus (which I feel is a little too much to pay for a bottle of this wine). At the lower price I feel Turner Road is a good buy, as it has a reliable flavour to it that is packed with fruity, tangy aspects that work well. I find that the product bottles have easy to open screw top lids to them that close well to provide a firm leak free seal and the product branding with the black banding and bird detailing make this an easy to spot product on a supermarket shelf.
My rating for Turner Road is 4 stars as I feel it works well, has plenty of flavour and generally seems to appeal to a wide range of wine drinkers. Turner Road chardonnay is a product I would buy again in future, although I would look out for offers and reductions from the higher (£9 plus) sale price in order to get best value for money.
Summary: A tangy fruity wine
