If in the past you have been subjected to a harsh paint stripper of a sauvignon blanc let me tempt you to try this delicious wine to show you what a good sauvignon blanc should taste like.

Appearance
It is a light pale straw colour. If you pour a small amount into your glass and give it a good swirl then the lovely aroma intensifies. It is not my intention to get all Jilly Goolden on you but when you smell this wine it should remind you of gooseberries and a touch of lychee. (I can't say I have found it to remind me of cat's pee on a gooseberry bush! ) It comes from New Zealand which is well known for producing some of the best sauvignon blanc. It is 13% so is quite alcoholic so take care when drinking it.

Taste
As for taste it is nice light and crisp. It is a lovely refreshing wine and can be drunk on its own or with food and suits most fish dishes and it great with a Caesar salad on a summer's day.
Unlike other sauvignon blancs it not too acidic so is easy to drink on its own. It is however more acidic than chardonnay but if you quite like sweet grapefruit then it is worth a try. Personally I find I quickly get bored of over oaked chardonnays so enjoy this as a refreshing change.

Availability and Price
You can spend double the price on some of the best sauvignon blanc but at half the price this wine represents good value for money at the £6.99 mark. I tend to pick up my bottle at my local Waitrose but it is available form bigger supermarkets and specialist wine retailers such as Majestic. It is worthwhile to look out for special offers and discounts on buying a case. My advice is stock up whilst you can when it is on offer.

Overall
A lovely crisp refreshing wine that it well worth the money. I promise you will not be disappointed. This wine gets 5 stars from this mum. A glass at the end of the day once the little man is sleeping goes down a treat.
