Advantages: Very good at protecting your goggles
Disadvantages: The Price
Having spent £30 on a decent pair of Oakley goggles a year or so ago I decided that just keeping them loose like my old eBay pairs wouldn't do. I needed something to keep them in a decent condition and that is when I found the Oakley goggle case. Of course my goggles came in a bag which doubles up as a mist wipe but that wasn't going to protect them so I decided to part with a further £20 to buy myself one of the harder wearing cases that can be bought separately.
Of course initially I was a little put off by the £20 price tag thinking that I might as well risk it and buy another pair for just £10 more. Then I thought about it a little more and one of the cases features really sold it for me. You see this case is suitable for most of the Oakley goggles and as my next pair are likely to be the more expensive A Frame goggles then the £20 price tag wasn't quite so extortionate when you consider they cost around the £100 mark so I looked at it as more of a longer term investment.
The case itself fits almost all of the Oakley goggle brands apart from the Crowbar, Splice and Wisdom series goggles. The slightly different shape of these means they don't fit the contours of the case and as such mean the case doesn't close. The case itself is made out of a semi rigid ballistic nylon that has been sculpted to the shape of the goggles and enables them to sit comfortably and securely inside. It is fitted to ensure the goggles can't rattle about inside the case and offers a level of protection that no other case could offer.
As well as protecting the goggles the case is incredibly lightweight and doesn't increase the weight of your luggage by much, which considering the protection it offers is very helpful. Once your goggles are out of the case it's light enough to carry around in your jacket pocket for the day without you even realising it is actually there unless you are actually looking for it.
The main advantage is of course that it reduces the risk of scratches to the lenses and ensure that the performance of the lenses remains intact. It also ensures that should you drop or stand on your case that the goggles inside aren't going to be damaged. In fat I would imagine it would take something incredibly heavy being placed on top of the case for the contents to be damaged.
Overall this is an excellent accessory to have if you want to protect your Oakley goggles. Of course there are some cheaper alternatives but due to the shape and style of this case it is easily the best one to protect a pair of Oakley goggles. The only disadvantage is of course the price and in fact even that has increased to £22.60 from cyclestore.co.uk, although it's still cheaper than the original RRP of £39.99. In terms of quality and protection though these are very much worth it and justify their price by protecting one of your most invaluable pieces of equipment on a ski/snowboarding holiday.
Summary: A made to fit case from Oakley to protect your goggles
