A Very Good Pair Of Snow Shoes

Last year I spent a week in the cold snowy Canadian mountains. While there we did lots of great activities and had a great time. One of the things we were provided with were snowshoes. There were actually two pairs we used, a classic pair which looked like big tennis rackets and a more modern pair which were these ones, the Wolf Arctica snow shoe. We used these a lot and so when I found them here on Dooyoo I thought I should give them a review. So the first thing you notice about these is the shape, unlike the classic wooden show shoes that you see these are a lot more slim line. They also look a lot more complicated and to be honest they are more complicated than the old fashioned version. The Wolf Arctica snow shoes that I was using were mainly black but as you can see from the image you can also get these in a blue colour. To put them on you simply slip your boot through the straps, you can then adjust these to tighten them up. This is fairly simple to do once you get the hang of it. Although first time round I recommend you have a practice in the warm rather than trying to do it outside in the snow with your gloves on. Once you have worked out the straps you can put these on with gloves on with no major issues. The big appeal of these is the fact that they are lighter and narrower than more traditional versions. That means if you are walking long distances with these they are much better than heavier versions. Although the surface area is not a large as some others I found that when using them I didn't really sink to deeply in the snow. With these being narrower than others it does make them a little easier to walk in, fore beginners these are probably easier than the wider wooden versions. As I have not done a massive amount of snow shoeing I am obviously no expert on the subject, but these seems to do the job very well. Price wise they are quite expensive, they tend to be around £100 which is obviously not cheap, but good quality equipment like this does not tend to come cheap. After using both these and classic versions I can say that these probably do perform better overall and for regular use they would without a doubt be the better choice. For me though I must admit I enjoyed the classic wooden versions better, they were harder to use but the whole experience felt a little more traditional with the wooden ones on. If I lived somewhere that required these though, I would probably opt for the lighter more slim line modern ones.
