i bought this because i regularly want to transfer the odd file or picture from my phone to the computer, and thought it would save some time and would be better than getting the supplied cable. on top of this, bluetooth dongles are cheap as chips, and its tiny size means it wouldn't be noticed anyway.
at first i used windows 7s included bluetooth utility, which is fine for the odd file but terrible for anything more, still, this was fine for the money. later on i got a copy of blue soliel, which is a much more advanced program. with this, the dongle could be easily used to transfer large numbers of files, could control my computer with my phone, and even use my phone as a tether to the internet over 3G, which was useful on my netbook.
the dongle itself i would highly recommend, but i would advise buying a copy of bluesoliel to go with it. the dongle seems to have a good range, and is very small and discrete. be advised that it doesn't sit perfectly flush with the side of a laptop, and the metal bit still sticks out slightly. this means you might not want to leave it plugged in in a bag, but when using it it wont be noticed.
overall, this is a really handy peice of kit, and is really cheap. windows can handle the dongle just fine, and asus have good support if you get stuck. using other software, this dongle can be used for a huge number of things.
If like me you have a loyt off media/ memorys on your computer or laptop that you would like to keep close to you at pretty much all times say on your bluetooth capable phone then this is perfect for you. Being able to send any type of file over a bluetooth connection this is perfect say if youve lost your usb lead from your phone to computer you just slot it in and send the file using a very simple easy to use icon that will appear in the bottom right of your screen if everythings functioning properly. As this is very simple to use and quick to use it also useful even if you do have your usb lead if its only one or two files, one downside would be that if like me you put things on your phone in bulk then some dongles would not cater for that only alowing you to transfer one file at a time making it very slow when compared to the usb lead and programs you may receive on the disc that comes with your phone. Also size may be an issue as it is very small and therefore very eaasy to lose forever being sucked up in the vaccum or something like that, but overall this is still very useful and will probably get you your moneys worth.
