Advantages: Wider range, faster processing speed

Disadvantages: Sticks out of notebook

This the wireless pre-N notebook Airgo True MIMO network card from Belkin which they claim has eight times wider coverage than standard 802.11g and six times as fast at 2.4GHz and is suitable for home or office use. The network card was designed in California and made in China and is my personal experience the card does it's job more than adequately.

The card slots into the Cardbus slot of any notebook PC and works effectively, though it does look a bit bulky having it sticking out of the side of your notebook computer. As claimed though, it does have a good range and picks up about three local area wireless networks near to my home, aswell as mine!

Upon experimenting with the card, I was able to pick up my dads connection from his wireless cable modem which was sitting three floors up in a flat, whilst I was on the ground floor outside. It also manages to pick up my home connection for a range or approximately up to 300 metres. I can go outside and sit in my car in the street or I can go and sit in the back garden without any connection problems whatsoever.

The software that comes with the network card allows you to set your preferred network and can be configure to log on automatically to the network as soon as it is in range. I have never experienced any compatibility issues or any form of interference with the device. The device retails at between £10 - £20 at good online retailers.
