good simple and cheap (BT Voyager 1055 USB Adapter)

Advantages: easy of use and easy setup

Disadvantages: doesnt suppot 802.11n

The BT Voyager 1055 USB adapter was given to me free of charge with another BT product. After many problems with other adapters i gave this one a try and was thoroughly impressed.

BTs software is available to control the device if you use an older operating system however installing only the drivers provided on the disk and using WZC to connect to your network in Windows XP is the easiest way.

With windows Vista no drivers were required. The device was detected on first boot and again the built in windows software was able to control the device and connect to my wireless router.

This was the same story for Linux in which i have used the adapter seamlessly.

In terms of standards this does not support the latest 802.11n standard however if you hub does not support this you would not benefit anyway. Broadband speeds are not able to match the throughput offered by 802.11n at present anyway.

overall a good, cheap and easy to use wireless adapter that appears to be compatible with most operating systems out of the box.
