Advantages: Two printer sockets, wireless bridging capability.

Disadvantages: No wireless access point capability, limited list of compatible printers.

The WGPS606 offers a strange combination of features which may make it perfect for some users, but frustrating to others.

First note that the wireless capabilities of the unit only include bridging. That is, the unit can connect to an existing wireless network to allow your printers to be accessed remotely, but the WGPS606 cannot act as a wireless access point.

The unit has two USB ports to connect printers, but the list of compatible devices is far from comprehensive. Before buying a check of the compatibility list on the Netgear website is essential. (I have a Samsung ML2240 laser printer which works well - but is not on the Netgear list).

Setup of the device is relatively easy using the software provided, particularly if the printers are already installed locally. No client side software is necessary to use the print server, though Netgear provide applications to quickly configure settings. Printer drivers must be installed on each machine connecting to the print server.

I have not used the wireless capabilities of the unit, and simply connect to my network using one of the four LAN sockets.

Summary: A quick and easy way to add two printers to a wired or wireless network (if they're compatible).
