Advantages: Reliable, easy to install, good connection range.
Disadvantages: Not a fan of the colour, but not really a disadvantage!
When we first 'splashed out' and got wireless internet within the house, we had a Belkin router - we soon regretted it. Within a month we were on the lookout for another router due to poor signalling and general unreliability.
We got our Netgear router from Amazon, for £50. Why so much I hear you say? Other reviews state a much lower price? Well, we decided to get the joint package of wireless router, and wireless adapter. Our laptop had a built in adapter, but unfortunately our PC did not, so we needed both. And as usual, it was cheaper to buy as a set, rather than separately.
We found the Netgear router and adapter very easy to install indeed - we simply used the software provided and voila, in about 10minutes we had a secure password-protected wireless connection.
Now, each time I log onto my computer, my internet connection is automatically there due to the password connection being saved in my Network Settings. No continuously typing in a password for me!
We currently use the router for many things - wireless internet on the iPhone/iPod that we own, the PC, the laptop and our Playstation3. The signal is fantastic, and only really falters with a dip in actual internet speed (which is usually Virgin Media's fault, not the router's!). Even with more than 1 appliance connected at a time, connection is never lost. It is an incredibly reliable router.
The range of the router is reasonably good too - even through the other end of the house in the bathroom (which is quite far through, on the end of the extension), you can still get a good connection. Upstairs is not a problem either!
We got the router approximately 3 years ago now - no complaints about it yet. Definitely the most reliable router we have ever had, and will probably ever have.
Summary: A fantastic little router, for a reasonable price.
