Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 - Kinect Compatible (Xbox 360)
by KittyKate100
I cant explain how excited I was to get this 'game' at the end of 2011, ready to start the new year on a new work out regime. It looked great in the reviews and the magic of the Kinect made the whole experience of the last game made it seem futuristic and exciting!
I was not disappointed.
It firstly takes your height, weight, ... gender and age so it can work out your BMI and how many calories you specifically would lose doing the various exercises/games.
You can choose where you want to begin, either specific regimes for your arms, legs, butt etc, or martial art boxercise, or maybe dance routines or even a bootcamp (a new feature on this version). Each one tests your stamina on different levels so you can push yourself to your limits. It also comes with games like jump rope (basically jumping on the spot to an imaginary computerised rope, and Run the World where you jog on the spot (but the screen shows you running throug the streets of London, New York etc).
This game is so much fun, and you can really monitor the calories you lose. It keeps track of all your details so each visit will show your current status. The new features are such an improvement on the last, but sometimes the lower floor activities are lost on the camera so you definatelt need the room to move about and for it to capture you. You can re-calibrate your camera, though, so dont worry if it doesnt work first time. Read the complete review |

Viva Pinata (Xbox 360)
by Clarey112
I found this game quite cheap in a shop and thought I would buy it as something different. I was hooked on it for a good few weeks but after that time it got very repetitive and now I only play on it very occasionally.
The game starts with a very overgrown and littered landscape and your given a small plot of land to shovel away ... at, you then start adding plants and trees and start attracting Piñata's who are animals of different breeds. You can name the Piñata's and build them houses to keep them happy and then you can breed them when you have met the requirements. Eventually you can buy different decorations, fences, paths and all sorts for your garden and make it look however you want. There are also bad piñatas who come along and leave poisoned candy, at first its fun to drive them off but after a while this also gets very repetitive.
It's definitely one of those games that's meant just for children and can imagine that it would provide them with hours of entertainment due to the simple and charming nature of the game but for the older generation don't expect to get much fun from it after a while. For the price I bought it however I definitely wouldn't grumble. Read the complete review |

Lego Lord of the Rings (Xbox 360)
by Clarey112
As a fan of both the Lego games and Lord of the Rings I knew I had to get this game when it came out. This is the first Lego game I've played where they actually use dialogue from the films and at first I thought it might ruin the humour found it in the other games but this isn't true, they've still managed to sneak funny clips in to the ... cut scenes and in a way I think the dialogue might add to the game.
The game works like the other Lego games, you collect studs and basically destroy everything to get these, the studs contribute to getting 'True Adventurer' status. You can choose to play as different characters present in the scenes are most of them have special abilities, for example Sam can dig and Legolas can shoot arrows at targets. As with all the Lego games there are some parts in each level which you need a different character for which isn't available and you go back once the game is completed in free play mode, this makes the game last longer but can be annoying as you can't complete the level on the first playing. Some of the levels can be a bit long and tiring and the game does get very repetitive after a while although this is the case with most Lego games. I have also ever played Lego games as a two player game and don't think it would make a good game to play on your own so keep this in mind, the two player on this particular Lego game is better than others I've played and you can go off and do your own thing easily in most levels.
One new feature I've found with this game is that there is a quest mode, you stumble upon characters when travelling through middle earth, which acts as the central hub for getting to levels, and complete different tasks set by them, mostly finding stuff for them or buying items with bricks you accumulate throughout the game.
The graphics are good and some of the scenery has been made to look quite realistic for a Lego game.
Overall this is a very worthy addition to the Lego games collection and definitely has replay value but I would suggest playing it as a two player game otherwise I feel it could get a bit boring. Read the complete review |
