LEGO Batman: The Videogame (Xbox 360)
Advantages: fun, interesting, entertaining, huge, good storyline, easy to pickup
Lego Batman is in the Guiness Book of Records Gamers Edition as having the most enemies in a batman game (12) so that's a pretty good start for the game right?
Call me childish but i really have got hooked on the new Lego games, indiana jones, star wars and this one, why? because they are everything a good game should be:
and most of all, HUGE, with loads to do throughout the game to make you keep coming back to try and 100% it.
--- First Play ---
The game on first play is great fun from the start, the comical lego videos introducing the levels are just as entertaining as the star wars ones. The game is easy to pick up and play as it's basically run around, kill people, find switches if you can't get somewhere etc.
--- Story ---
There's two sides to every story and this games no exception. Play as Batman and Robin to fight the Arkham Asylums freshly escaped villains Scarecrow, Joker, Penguin, Cat Woman, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Mr Freeze, Riddler, Two Face and many more!, over 3 chapters worth of story for this one (6 episodes per chapter). Then switch it around and be evil as you fight the villains side of the story to take out Batman and Robin and reign terror over Gotham City.
--- 100% It ---
Many games get me finishing them and putting them away essentially, but this has kept me coming back to try and get up to 100% for many reasons. The fun add-ons, characters and extras (such as everyone wearing disguises), but above all it's the sheer vastness of this game. Like the other Lego games this one has loads to unlock, hidden areas and 3 requirements per level to complete it fully. You'll need to collect a set amount of Lego studs in the level, find all 10 Batman minikit pieces AND a hidden red Lego brick per level to complete it. These requirements may need you to come back as you may require specific characters, such as Robin with his magnetic boots to climb up metal or Mr Freeze to freeze some blocks to get to new areas.
--- Achievement-heads ---
Hooked on achievement points? this one has 46 different achievements to complete! should keep you busy for a fair while.
--- Multiplayer ---
The integration of co-op is a nice feature. Giving you the ability to play with a friend and even requiring two people for certain bits (computer does this automatically if playing alone) it can help give your friend something to do instead of watching you enjoying the game.
--- Price ---
At a bargain £15 or less from the Lego store online shop this is a great and entertaining game!
--- Summary ---
Sticking true to the original Batman style and including all the greatest villains and heroes is inspired on Travellers Tales (developers) part. Fun storylines and comical videos blend in well to the vast and varied gameplay. So much to do to complete the game fully it's perfect for those wanting a simple game or something more challenging by trying to find hidden areas etc.
Despite getting a few poor reviews from various sites i cannot understand why at all, it's fun, cheap and addictive (try getting 100% and you'll see how tough it is).
A full on 5 out of 5
Summary: Perfect for people of all ages, another Lego game classic
