Advantages: Playable/Stunning to look at

Disadvantages: Unpredictable difficulty

This is an entertaining game that is suitable for a quick half an hour blast, or you can spend a whole evening on it just as easily. It is a air combat shooting game where you can pilot numerous (real) aircraft in different missions to complete your goal of winning the war for your country.

As normal for x-box 360, the graphics are very good with the aircraft superbly rendered, and almost photo-realistic landscapes. It is rather unfortunate that you'll rarely get close enough to enemy aircraft or targets to see how well they've been crafted by the games designers.

The sound track which accompanies the film isn't bad, and would not sound out of place in any film which had air-planes fighting with each other. It's rather melodic, and can be quite dramatic, building your anticipation as you approach a large group of targets.

In terms of playability this is very user friendly. The controls are perfectly suited to the x-box controller, and just feel right. The difficulty curve is a little off, with certain early missions proving particularly difficult with the next one being ridiculously easy. This is unfortunately complicated, as you have to choose the correct plane for the mission, and not simply the most expensive plane you can afford. Along with this even during individual missions the difference in opposition planes can be staggering. You can easily eliminate 3 or 4 within 2 or three minutes, then easily spend ten to fifteen chasing a single one!

It is quite a limited game, but it looks good, and is easy to play. In that respect it's quite similar to an arcade game. If you can pick it up for low cost, it's a fun game and provides light relief from the seemingly endless stream of strategy heavy games for the 360.

Summary: Arcade like fun
