I went to HMV today in the search of a game to keep me entertained for the afternoon or maybe a few afternoons.. Having spent about 20 minutes looking through them all with my boyfriend who knows more about games than I do, for the minute.. I finally picked one..
Bomberman Act : Zero..
To be fair I wish I hadn't bothered..
~~ Who is the game made by? ~~
The game is made by Konami.. A leading developer of games for various consoles.. The company which is the creator of games such as the 'Metal Gear Series' and 'Silent Hill Series,' is head quartered in Tokyo, where founded in 1969 it began as a jukebox rental and repair business.. Things have changed dramatically for the company..
~~ What is Bomberman Act : Zero? ~~
For those of you who know what the Bomberman concept it read down now..
For those of you who don't.. Basically Bomberman as far as I know it is a little man who goes around blowing bricks up to be the winner.. On the new Xbox 360 you can download the cartoon Bomberman which for me has always been the original, as other than the Wii version and now this it's the only thing I have played..
Act : Zero however is different.. Now you no longer are a cartoon character, but something a little more lifelike and somewhat less interesting, now though you do get to chose whether you are male or female bomber.. Which does give you a naked body for a start which is quite graphic in a sense that the female body and male for that matter have quite obvious genital areas.. Think that may be why the game is for 12+..
The power ups on this version are larger and more powerful, having a fire-up instead of blowing up 2 blocks instead of 1, blows up around 5.. So keep clear..!
~~ How about the graphics? ~~
The graphics all in all are fairly good.. Not as good as Playstation 3 obviously as that console is much newer but this still is fairly detailed considering it is mainly blowing up blocks and picking up power-ups..
The colours are especially good.. Even better on my HD television as it shows up so much brighter..
~~ How long would it last? ~~
Well essentially it can last forever until you get bored.. So the question begs to be asked - how long until you are likely to get bored of it? I don't think it would be too long.. With the Xbox Live it might be a little more fun but still it's the same game over and over depending on who you are playing against.. Still you can't even have 2 player co-op on this game..
~~ Price.. ~~
I paid £15 for this game in HMV..
You might pick it up cheaper in game station but I wouldn't bother..
~~ Overall ~~
One of the most boring games I have played recently, it has no story obviously and it seems you go no where.. Very slowly.. It does make the controller vibrate.. That is the only exciting thing about it, and even that is only moderately exciting.. If you were looking at it.. Don't bother!
Bomberman: Act Zero recreates Bomberman, keeping the fun gameplay but adding a modern look and dark storyline. Deep within an experimental underground facility, humans are imprisoned as test subjects and trained to become soldiers. Equipped with armored battle suits, the subjects must fight for survival and eliminate each other to determine who will become the Ultimate Human Weapon. As Bomberman, your objective is simple: destroy your opponents before they destroy you. Up to 8 players can engage in frantic battles for survival online through Xbox Live and earn points to become the ultimate weapon on the World Rankings.
