Advantages: You can choose to do what you like

Disadvantages: Very boring - the city streets all look the same

After being thoroughly addicted to Burnout Revenge I was eagerly awaiting purchasing Burnout Paradise. As soon as it arrived I started playing only to find that I just didn't get it. I've read a lot of other people's reviews about the 'open world format' but I just don't agree. I understand the concept and even knew what the game would be like before I bought it - however in reality I just find it rather quite boring. I think the main reason for this is because I feel there is no sense of competition. I just drive round the streets aimlessly getting lost and not finding any races I feel like participating in.

Unlike in Burnout Revenge you are constantly shown your progress in the rankings and I find it is this need to improve that spurs me on to complete the game. In Burnout Paradise there is none of this and I don't get the same sense of satisfaction.

Overall I think the concept of the game is clever but it could have been a lot better.

Summary: Disappointed - could have been a lot better
