Campaign The Campaign picks up from where MW2 left off. If you plan on playing it on Veteran i will admit that its not stupidly annoying like MW2 which was a huge ragefest!!!!!! The campaign is solid and is worthy enough to be that of a sequel. SPEC-OPs Survival I''ve played the Zombie mode in W@W and Black Ops and i loved it. Although, Survival adds that element of fun for the ppl who did not like Zombise. After the 1st wave you''ll unlock the Armory support, 2nd Wave Explosive and Armor Support, last but not least 3rd Wave Air support. I managed to get to Wave 31 all by myself until i blew myself up trying to cook a grenade when i saw a Juggernaut coming out of no where lol. Unlike Zombies how you can have 4 players, Survival only allows up to 2 players which some people might not be too happy about. If you haven''t played this mode yet i will say it''s definitely worth playing... you''ll be hooked for hours playing it. SPEC-OPs Mission Like MW2 Spec Ops after you get all 48 stars its not worth playing anymore. Still entertaining nonetheless. Multiplayer MW2 all over again. I love multiplayer but theres really nothing new or improoved about it. Conclusion Besides the Campaign and Survival the game failed to impress me. IW/Sledgehammer(mostly IW) attempted to make MW3 have that COD 4 gameplay style but fell short horribly. The multiplayer maps arent the best and it still has that MW2 gameplay style. This game would have been better off as a $30 DLC to MW2 rather then a brand new $60 game. If you can get it at a lower price then buy it and have fun but otherwise hold off.
Call of Duty is known for being an average and over hyped type of series. I don't really agree with this, but if I'm using Modern Warfare 3 as an example, then yes, Call of Duty is over rated. Modern Warfare 3 is something of a failure, not because it was bad, it's a failure because the hype that it got shouldn't have been there at all.
The campaigns of Call of Duty games have always been uninteresting, and always generic or typical. The beginning of this game was actually very well done, engrossing you in Captain's Price's story. But then, the story quickly becomes boring and just un-original. I lost myself in an incredibly uninteresting world filled with blood and shooting.
The multiplayer actually is very good, I have logged in a couple of months of shooting players and levelling up, but with all multiplayer games, or most of them, they quickly get boring. Thankfully, Modern Warfare's 3 is interesting and does a lot to keep you engrossed. The survival mode is good, but it quickly gets boring and it may seem interesting at first, but really get tiring later on, especially if you don't have any friends to play with you.
All in all, the game is good, but doesn't deserve the hype that it has gotten, because this game simply does not meet the standards of the hype that it has been receiving,
Yes, this game is amazing! You will find a lot of people calling COD devs by names, hating them for turning this franchise into an annualized franchise and churning out games like a content mill. It's really infuriating and saddening at the same time to see all these haters who hate on the series for no apparent reason. This game is an ace. Yes, listen to me. I have played this game o my PC, 360 as well as on my cousin's PS3 and it plays same on all the platforms. It's one of the most addictive games you are ever going to play. So, if you haven't picked it up, you should now.
There is not much to talk abut Single Player campaign, but all I can say is, it's really solid and gives you the bang for your buck. But most people are not interested in SP campaigns. All they want is some Multiplayer goodness. Well, your fish is fulfilled. You are going to get a lot of that here. Just ignore those who are criticizing this game and come join us. Everything is so perfectly balanced unlike some other games that you will play. You are not going to regret it.
Having been a fan of the call of duty series since mw2 I had been very much looking forward to this next addition to the series. The game itself is perfect, the online is great as it has a very large range of game modes compared to the other call of duty games. For instance for the first time in a call of duty game there is face off playlists which means you can do 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 which would in the other call of duty games require you to start a private match. The only down side to the face off playlists is the fact that there is only 2 maps, 1 which is based on a run aground ship and one which is set in ruins.
There is also as per usual in the call of duty games a wide range of weapons, attachments and equipment. The equipment include some very cool additions for instance the trophy system which deflects any enemy projectiles and the l.m.s which is basically 4 land mines which can fire individually. Also another bonus is that in this call of duty you can name your custom classes to whatever you like. I cannot comment on the campaign as I only play the call of dutys for the online multiplayer. Also there is a large amount of players resulting in short lobby wait times.
The downside to the game is the large amount of hackers which can often make the online multiplayer experience frustrating and annoying. Apart from the large amount of hackers this is another great installment to the call of duty series.
Now, I have been a fan of the Call of Duty series ever since Modern Warfare (Call of Duty 4). It took a lot to transform me from the Medal of Honour series but I really enjoy Call of Duty in general. Modern Warfare 3 had a lot to live up to for me as I preferred the Modern Warfare games to the World at War and Black ops versions. My first impressions were fantastic, as with all of the games in the series I started by playing online, I got straight into the action (and a head-start on other gamers as I saw it) and really loved this game.
Now, Modern Warfare 2 may have left us on a cliff-hanger during campaign, but Modern Warfare 3 continues this story. In my initial opinion, I really didn't know where Activision could go considering the previous games had racked up a long enough story. However, the plot is brilliant! The game really exploits so many different stories with so many different characters. One feature I liked was that you play alongside (and as, for that matter) Captain Price, and he has been in the Call of Duty series ever since the first Modern Warfare! The main character you play as is Soap McTavish, who, ironically is on the cover of the game case.
So, the campaign mode scores really high for me! However I found the game on the veteran difficulty relatively easy compared to the other games in the franchise. For all those people out there who look for a game with a great plot / storyline, this is the one. Total game time to complete for me (on veteran) was about 8 hours, give or take. Developing on the previous games, there is more to do than just run around shooting willy nilly, in this game you are often put into scenarios which are brilliant to play. For example controlling the gun whilst travelling in a helicopter!
Alongside the campaign, you have the renowned multiplayer. As Call of Duty is a game very known for its online play, Activision really needed to produce something fantastic to follow up the series. And they have done just that. With all the small additions and the parts which have followed the previous games, multiplayer is hours and hours of fun. With the new barracks system improved, you will have a brilliant time just going through and looking at your stats! Unlike the previous games, there is more to see in the main barracks screen which makes it quicker and easier to view your stats in between games.
The main objective of the online play is the same as the games predecessors, earn experience and level up. Call of Duty has gone back to the system of the higher rank you are, the better weapons / equipment you can access. I preferred this method as Black Ops used a system where you earn money in which you could spend on goodies. In Call of Duty it is not just shoot a person to gain experience. Experience can be collected by means of Capturing flags, destroying objectives and many more.
As with most games, a good experience comes with good software. And can I just say, the maps and equipment in this game are fabulous! There is so much more choice compared to the other games, this means that there is a gun out there for everybody! Even though my favourite is the G36C and you do not unlock this gun until level 37! The maps, although they are all huge, it is a slight improvement on Modern Warfare 2, where the maps were all ridiculously big!
Now, I've mentioned campaign and Multiplayer, but Modern Warfare 3 also offers a Special Ops game mode. I have spent most of my play time on multiplayer and campaign however the time I have spent on Special Ops has been very entertaining. As with the previous game you can complete Special Missions to earn stars, and there are so many missions! (15+ if I am correct!) The variety in missions is also brilliant; you can go from completing a mission racing snowmobiles to gunning down helicopters with an LMG in a slum.
The other game mode which has been added to Special Ops is called Survival. This is basically a wave game. You earn money from killing enemies and completing waves and you must purchase more equipment to aid you in surviving. You can play survival on all of the online maps, and even play co-op with friends online! The game mode sometimes proves tricky, especially on higher waves, but the game is very enjoyable to play in groups.
This paragraph goes out to the graphics, they are phenomenal! Another improvement on the previous games. The scenery in campaign is just unmatched! Even when playing multiplayer, the games graphics are very impressive. The one negative point I have to the graphics; when in campaign and shooting many enemies it just looks a little unrealistic! The sound effects though make up for this, explosions and all of the other effects sound brilliant!
The game play of Modern Warfare is also brilliant, with the same control set as the rest of the series; the game is very easy to pick up. Whilst playing through the campaign I noticed that there are many aspects which have been improved. In general, you are usually pushing and trying to progress however on some occasions, even online (i.e. Camping) you are forced to take some cover and really take your time in finishing off the enemies.
So, in conclusion, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a fantastic game. I would recommend it to any keen shooter / gamer. The possibilities in this game are truly endless (within reason) and I trust that anybody would thoroughly enjoy it! However my advice would be, if you have not played any of the previous call of duty's, then try out perhaps Black ops or World at War as they are produced by Infinity Ward as a pose to Activision. Thanks for reading!
i used to have this game and it is full of cheaters and hackers and the game itself is badly designed heres why.
the reason i think the game is badly designed is that the developers think that shotguns (which are slow and short range weapons) can fire faster than an assault rifle which is complete rubbish.
Next the cheaters you can go on any auction site or game store now and buy a turbo/rapid fire pad these have ruined the game as they do pretty much everything for you like auto aim, quickscoping mods the lsit is endless and all for a very affordable price too.
The final thing is the call of duty community im speaking from xbox live i dnt know what ps3 is like but its probably the same everyone who plays it if they talk are mean and racist and even worse so if your a parent protect your kids and dnt buy them this game as its very bad and not worth the money.
Call of Duty: MW3 is a great first person shooter. I have enjoyed playing this game ever since I bought it, and have racked up over a month's playing time. I'm no addict, honest.
The campaign/story mode on MW3 lasts a good 6/7 hours and pretty much every mission is fast and furious! All gun shots, voices and explosions sound extremely realistic.
Talking of 'realistic', this brings me on to the graphics. As with pretty much every Call of Duty game, the graphics are amazing. You won't miss a thing with the sharp, crisp edges. If using MW3 with a HDMI cable in a 1080p TV, believe me, you'll be surprised with how clear they are. But don't get too excited, I probably should mention they are pretty much the same as Modern Warfare 2.
Multiplayer/Online mode on Modern Warfare 3 has to be one of it's best features. With added killstreaks and 16 new maps, this will keep you entertained for hours, non stop. The levelling system will also keep you attached to the game for hours. You go up one level, and immediately want to be the level above that, and so on.
The cost of MW3 for Xbox 360 is around the £30 mark.
This is my first review so please be kind, any hints or tips are always welcome, so that I can improve future reviews.
Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 3 is the latest released instalment in the Call of Duty franchise. This is a First Person Shooter game. The Modern Warfare side of this franchise is made by Infinity Ward and in MW3 Sledgehammer Games were drafted in for this title to bring something new. Call of Duty seems to be a lot like marmite; you either love or hate it. In order to look at all aspects of the game I will split it into 3 sections. Single Player, Multiplayer and Spec Ops
If you have played any previous Modern Warfare title then this section of the game will give you no surprises. It continues the story from MW and MW2. (I have to be honest here I find it too hard to follow the story.) The main reason for this is because you seem to change character every act. There is usually a lot of action and shooting and a myriad of cut scenes, but that's where I get lost. Story aside it makes for a fairly easy play through on any difficulty. Mainly, because like all other MW titles, you simply have to move through the level slowly and the AI would do most of the work for you. Overall it's satisfactory.
Spec Ops is a game mode that can be played either on your own or online with another player. (Some of the ops require two players to complete) I was a big fan of Spec Ops in Modern Warfare 2 so I was looking forward to this game mode returning. However, I found myself disappointed. Most of the missions in this game seem to be time based, requiring the player to complete certain objectives in a time frame. For me this ruined the entire Spec Ops as although it was challenging it wasn't fun.
Along with the missions Spec Ops also added a new survival mode. I couldn't help but feel that IW was trying to emulate the zombie's mode of Activision and without much success. I find it stale with no real reward. Also, being limited to only two player's, leads to a very detached multiplayer feeling.
This is perhaps the main selling point behind Call of Duty. To go into all aspects would take forever so I will focus on a few things that stood out to me. Personally I found there to be nothing new within this section. It was very much the same old. There were originally 10 prestige's in this mode in the beginning however, soon after release there were rumours this would be increased to 20. To me this screamed that Infinity Ward saw nothing keeping players interested in their game and on my friends list I soon found it hard to find anyone still playing even after a few months.
Overall the game is ok but I would probably have to put it bottom of my list of all the Call of Duty games. On a final note for a game rated 18 you will soon realise most of the online players seem to be well below this age! This is something you will soon find annoying, but that isn't really the game developers problem.
The online multiplayer is, as usual, very good and among the best on the console. However, the campaign mode is lacking with the usual problem involving scripted AI's and ease. The new special ops mode is a great addition but does not make up for the lack of zombies, which is only available in black ops. In my opinion this game is the poorest of the MW (modern warfare) series with poor multi player maps and the usual problems involving campers and insanely good kids giving you abuse. The most fun I had playing this game was playing special ops with friends however this does not quite carry the same no holds barred fun as zombies. As a result, I would recommend keeping black ops or saving for black ops 2 (which looks amazing) as opposed to buying this title, unless having the latest COD (call of duty) for online play is important to you.
This game was a blockbuster for a reason. First off, the campaign story might leave the gamer with a little want, but it is very gripping and will keep you very enthralled throughout the entire process. the multiplayer is the main reason people buy this game, it is endless. Apart from the countless weapons and special abilities that your are granted, like drones that you control, to sending a small fleet of helicopters riddling your enemies full of bullets, you have TONS of customization to play with and more upgrades than you can shake a stick at. I would recommend this game to any one who is a fan of shooters or army games, from casual gamers to the hardcore, this is a game loved by millions, and it shows in the amount of people who play online. Though it is not aimed at the younger ages, adults will have a blast with this and is brilliant on game nights or parties at a friends house.
I play many different types of games, on many different types of platforms and when the arrival date of this particular game was announced I was crazily excited. Upon buying the game however, I was slightly more dissapointed. The game itself is not at all bad, it has everything a good first person shooter game needs and then some, but what it lacks is the style of it's predeccesor which I play as i write this review. The game has good graphics and a wide array of weaponry but just doesen't have the pizaz that the previous Modern Warfare had. The survival mode was a pretty good addition but even with this the game still didn't compete with the flair of the other game. So if you are thinking about buying this game then before you do, try the previous games and see for yorself which version is a better game.
Modern Warfare 3 is the culmination of the Call of Duty franchise becoming an overbloated monster. The genre-shaking behemoth that was Modern Warfare, the deeply successful if flawed sequel and the bolder Treyarch attempts of Black Ops all sold by the million and entrenched themselves as the only console game in town. You could even arguably say the vast majority of gamers aren't games fans, but COD fans. But why does this one finally threaten to burst the ever-swelling bubble that seems to be unthinkingly championed year on year?
Firstly, the single player of COD has never been massively strong, despite the incredible set pieces, and MW3 really drives that point home. In past iterations the linearity and shooting gallery nature of bad guys has been softened by a breakneck pacing and iconic filmesque action scenes. However, in MW3 the hand holding you from set piece to set piece finally becomes a hand dragging you from point to point. The infamous videos of AI comrades completing levels for you are very true, and in a bid to outdo itself the set pieces become almost routine - and if a game can make atomic blasts seem ho-hum, then you know something's gone wrong. The COD single player A-Z has become so entrenched, that even the now-obligatory moment designed to shock you comes off as a cynical attempt to tug heartstrings that have hardened in a dozen identikit fights.
But you're probably not playing MW3 for the single player, no, but instead the life-swallowing, all-consuming multiplayer. Unfortunately, the continued decision to keep connections at the mercy of the players involved instead of dedicated servers begins a domino effect that leads to a deeply irritating mode. The makers have, in an attempt to reduce the power of the OTT killstreaks they introduced in MW2, tried to put an emphasis on "gun on gun gameplay". This is mainly achieved by shrinking the maps, simplifying access points and then making the guns more lethal. But the erratic connections and terrible clutter on map designs actively penalises movement. In a game where being seen first means you will die more likely than not, the run and gun game has been eliminated. Meanwhile the clutter and lack of sightlines has removed the long game for all but the best players. This means the game degenerates into an AR camper's dream, where to sit in the corner with the all-round best guns is the best play. That's not to even get started on the warping of the sniper rifle into a close-range weapon at the expense of any long-range effectiveness.
If you're looking to continue your run of COD games, this may finally be the one that weans you from them. As level up noises fill your ears to the extent that their very value is lost, you'll be sorely tempted to put the controller down and wait until the franchise goes back to basics, reinvents itself altogether or slides in obscurity along with the Tony Hawks and Guitar Heroes of this world.
Well as usuall we are left thinking this game is good untill we have played it for an hour. It should be modern warfare 2.5 with only new guns and maps but the same gameplay. Online play gets very repetitive and you find it difficult to want to keep prestiging after the first time but if you find prestiging fun and have enough time to i would say go for it. Spec ops and another fun feature and the new survival mode is very good in solo and with friends. While being challenging it is also fun as you unlock more maps with more dangers like chemical warfare and also very challenging juggernauts. The campaign is fun and on normal should take around ten hours to complete. It follows on but you should really play the others before purchasing this as modern warfare 2 is just as good in my opinion.
First review in quite a while so be gentle!
I thought I would make my ciao comeback on what is probably my favourite Xbox title & I dare say a good majority of my fellow gamers choice too.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the latest in the line of Activision first-person shooters, developed by Infinity Ward & Sledgehammer Games with additional work by Raven Software. It is the third installment of the Modern Warfare series as you might have guessed by the title and the eighth COD title.
So what game options do we have in this latest installment?
We have the usual fare here, as always a good engaging story line which involves you, the player, taking on various roles throughout the story based all over the world with a lot of nice cut scenes. I don't want to give away much of the story line here as to be honest, personally I was a little disappointed. We have a nice WW3 doomsday scenario with Russia trying to cause a nuclear war, there is a lot more to it than that but find out for yourself, certainly worth doing at least.
However, it was all over far too quickly, took me a couple of hours (admittedly not on the hardest difficulty) to whizz through it & while there is, as always, lots of fun stuff you get up to which you won't in the other modes, it just seems to be more & more of an afterthought in this series as I'm sure, like most of my friends, not a lot of people ever bother completing the campaign mode as they usually get stuck straight into the thing people most love, online play.
So overall I'd give campaign 6/10 - Good story & gameplay but over way too quickly.
In this game we have a new Survival Mode, which is not a million miles off Nazi Zombie mode, however this time the enemy do not spawn at fixed location, but are instead spawn in tactical position based on the player location. Everyone loves killing zombies though so I really think they should be giving us this in every game as standard! You can earn cash for weapons, ammo, upgrades etc. . . . We also have Special Ops which you MW2 players will be familiar with. We have 48 stars rather than 69 from MW2. We also get some new weapons that are available only in this mode.
We all know this is the main event, why everyone buys this game, where all those hours of your life have went. If you haven't woken up on the couch, controller still in hand, at stupid hours of the morning then don't call yourself a COD fan!
As you wouldn't expect we don't have any radical changes here, just a little evolution that was provided by all those many, many hours spent online. The killstreak system has had the biggest tweak, they are now Pointstreaks and taking down the enemy is no longer the only way to earn some carnage action. It's broken down into three different forms, Assault, Support & Specialist.
Assault is basically just the same as Killstreak, the more kills in a row you get without dying the more points you get and the more punishment you can dish out to the enemy. The juggernaut suit is a nice new addition, not good coming up against someone with this perk without a rocket launcher in hand but my favourite is probably taking over as gunner of the AC130 or the Osprey but can't say I get a 17 killstreak as often as I would like!
The Support strike packages are based on the total points you have earned throughout the match regardless of how many times you die which is a nice touch and levels the playing field a little as there are some serious players out there who in previous installments would always be breaking out the big guns and taking those less skilled to China Town constantly. We have perks such as SAM turrets, support packages, Advanced UAV and things like that.
The specialist packages reward you for every other kill, but like once killed you revert back to zero, there are 15 perks for you to select from
As well as all the standard online game modes we are all used to we have a few new treats for your enjoyment such as Team Juggernaut, Gun Game, Team Defender, One in the Chamber and Kill Confirmed. I generally find myself playing TDM or headquarters and when I'm the mood for some carnage it's always a bit of free for all! With so many options we it keeps it fresh although I have never ever heard of anyone complaining of being bored of playing COD online!
Special Ops is also available online & features new features which make it more re-playable than before. There are two main modes, one that is pretty much the same as MW2 & a new wave based game mode where the player is either spawned in the multiplayer maps alone or with a buddy. You can buy support options with XP earned during each round.
We also have Call of Duty: Elite for all the COD super geeks out there. It's a free subscription based service developed by Beachhead Studios for MW3 multiplayer which was released on 08/11/2011 to coincide with the release of MW2. The free version has features like lifetime statistics & social network integration so you can boast about your stats & show the world how sad your life is! The subscription version will cost you the princely sum of 49.99. You'll get monthly downloadable content, competitions with prizes & a few other things which, for the casual gamer will be a bit OTT.
So overall what else can you give the best online game ever except 10/10. This is what it's all about people!
The graphics on this game are better than ever, I unfortunately have only played the Xbox version so I can't compare with the PS3 & PC versions but from what I have read/heard as you would expect much the same with the PS3, with the PC version being slightly better but I dread to think what spec of PC you would need to run it smoothly with all the settings cranked up to the max.
The game has been well received from gamers & critics alike as you would expect but you can never please everyone but I am one happy camper (sometimes literally!)
Overall I give this game a 9/10 Campaign lets it down a little due to lack of depth, even compared to previous installments but the online action more than makes up for it.
Maybe I'm a little biased being such a COD fan, I know a lot of Battlefield fans out there who would disagree but that's for another review...
i love this game got it for 30 quid in asda on boxing day sale. its a good game but it really similar to mw2 but the introduction of survival mode is good theatre mode is still here so that good. the graphics are good and its an amazing game.but I prefer mw2
