all of Duty 5: World War was a game that was significantly hyped up, particularly with the introduction of the new 'Nazi Zombies' game-mode, to be a massive hit; and so it proved. With millions of sales world wide, thanks to the obvious selling point that was the Nazi Zombies game-mode, this game was hugely successful and stood creators Activision and Treyarch in great stead for the future.
This game was the most dynamic and creative Call of Duty game in the franchise at the time. Released in 2008, it was host to the fantastic Zombies game-mode, which was, and still is, massively popular amongst fans. Aswell as the Zombies game-mode, the Multiplayer gameplay featured new guns, maps and killstreaks for the fans to play with. Maps were more dynamic than ever, and warfare was more realistic than ever.
However, Call of Duty 5: World War had many downsides. There were only 4 Zombies maps in total, therefore it got repetitive and in most cases very boring quickly. The multiplayer often had serious connection-based issues, causing players to experience lag and constantly get kicked out of games. There was also a gun on Multiplayer, called the MP40, that was far superior to anything else, leaving gun on gun gameplay a little stale, as it constricted the varying customised class, the COD 4: Modern Warfare had implemented so well.
Overall, though this game had many flaws, it had some great features, such as Zombies, that made it completely different to any game on the market; that is why is was such a success.
The game has a great storyline which features everything that you would expect from a first person shooter and more. It includes a wide variety of different roles and tactics in order to reach the mission objective. The game features a wide selection of weapons which are at the players disposal to choose from. The game can be played with two players which can help when attempting difficult missions and this is achieved through a split screen layout. The best part of this game is the zombies game mode where you must kill the incoming waves of zombies in order to survive and can credits. These credits can then be spent on ammunition and more importantly new weapons which are nessecery in order to make it through the later rounds where the zombies are stronger as well as coming in greater numbers. Credits are earned by wounding and killing zombies and by fixing barriers which ultimately slow down the zombies progress. The zombies game mode can also be attempted by one or two players. Also featured in the game is a multiplayer mode which can allow you to play with other players as long as you are connected to xbox live. This mode is experimental to say the least and I would not recommend it however I believe that that rest of the game makes up for it. The worst thing about this game is the graphics which are not always of a high standard (especially when in dark areas). There also some glitches in the game however these can be used to your advantage in some cases.
