Normally i would be displeased to pick up a disney movie game because they are generally disgraceful in every way but actually this one, is not that bad.
Despite the games obvious flaws such as glitches, bad textures here and there and messed up physics, the storyline and gameplay is actually very fun and simplistic. I love the whole pick up and play world where you can just cruise around radiator springs while listening to some great rock music, and just completing some side missions like tractor tipping when you get bored.
Achievements in this game are easy, except for two things. The first is tractor tipping for a 75G achievement which just takes the mick really it is difficult even for me and i'm a fully grown man, let alone the nonsense "hard" mode which increases rival difficulty during races. The rest of the G, i'd say about 80% of it is very easy to obtain and should take you no more than 3 days.
The game has an excellent sound track with good quality mp3's, it's all rock music but actually it's stuff from recent years rather than classic rock or heavy rock stuff. There's no Linkin' park but there are a few songs used from in the movie. The voices are done by the real actors and these are good voices even if they do get a bit repetitive especially Mac the truck who also does many other Disney voices including the piggy bank from Toy Story.
The physics are messed up, but it's a kids game so who cares? There are lots of invisible barriers and dodgey bits of glitched textures floors and rocks. At the end of radiators springs near the edge of the map there is a large cliff face with a hole in the floor that your car can fall through. Apart from these and a few rough textures it's not too bad.
The characters are quite funny, some of the random stuff they come out with is new material not heard in the film. The story does slightly deviate from the film because you're doing more races than laying a new road as we saw in the movie, but that's pretty boring for a game.
Overall not that bad a game for a Disney game, it's easy G but it's also fun, enjoyable, and easy to play. It's not even hard to follow the storyline so i'll give this a 4 star rating.
When I received this game from my local rental store last year, I was a bit sceptical of the game as I had read some pretty bad reviews. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this game.
The graphics were alright but this was expected as after all it's a game based on a movie which is aimed at kids. The gameplay was pretty good which surprised me a lot as I was expecting it to be pretty awful. The story and races was a lot of fun as it provided myself with many hours of fun. The achievements for this game are very easy as most of them are unlocked as you play the game. Some of the achievements can be a bit tedious as you have to drive around looking for the secret parts and collectibles.
Overall, I think this game suits most people who play Xbox as the game provides fun and entertainment to people of all ages, and not just those who are under the age of 12. Although, this was the first release from the series of Cars, I would give this a rating of 4 out of 5 as I was genuinely surprised at how good the game is.
Race to the finish line as you live all the fun and excitement of the next Walt Disney Pictures presentation of a Pixar Animation Studios film, "Cars." Play as all your favorite characters as you help Lightning McQueen capture the coveted Piston Cup Championship.
