A fast paced action game that features absolutely loads of variety in the gameplay!

      == Devil May Cry 4 ==
Devil May Cry 4 is an action game and it has been developed by Capcom. The Devil May Cry series of games have always been one of my favourite and upon hearing of a forth installment, I was shocked. Previous games were great but all the three previous games was back in the PS3 days. Now for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC comes a new installment called Devil May Cry 4. This game has lots to offer and I feel the best thing about it, is its story. The game is set after the events of the first Devil May Cry but its set before the second one. Confusing I know, but its like a prequel. There is apparently a Devil May Cry 4: Refrain for the iOS.

The basic story of the game revolves around two characters. Whilst at first you can only play as Nero (main character) if you complete the game you can play as Dante. The game starts with Nero and a short movie. Nero is a rough looking character who has potential. His right arm is in a sling. The movie is Nero running towards the towns Opera House. Hes in that much of a rush he has to fight demons that have taken over the town on the way. After getting closer to the Opera House, Nero can hear the voice of Kyrie. In the Opera House Kyrie has started and is saddened to find that Nero isn't there. As she finishes she looks around again and Nero is sat there like he has been there the whole time. After her song she goes over to sit with Nero because Sanctus, the high priest starts talking about the towns god and some other bits. As Nero gets up to leave through boredom, Dante comes flying in through the Opera House roof and he kills Sanctus. He then turns his attention to the oncoming guards that want his head. After defeating the guards Dante is attacked by Nero. Now its time for you to take control. This part of the game is just the training mission so you know what your doing. Its simple enough and shouldn't be a problem. In this fight Nero reveals that his right arm that was in a sling is a demonic arm with great powers. After what seems the death of Dante, he actually awakens and runs away. Now Nero has the mission of finding Dante and either killing him or bringing him back.

      === Gameplay ===
Devil May Cry 4 offers more in terms of gameplay than what is probably expected. You can play as Nero or Dante but to play as Dante you either have to get through the game or wait while your further along, depends how well you do. Nero and Dante look very similar characters in the clothes they wear but Dante is much older and there is a twist in the story to do with both of them but I wont give anything away. They both have different weapons and attacks. Nero uses a different sword to what Dante uses and also uses different guns. Each character starts with their own combos and special attacks. As you progress through the game you will notice many things on the levels. Some of these include shops. Shops sell healing items and other items. They also sell new combos, techniques and special attacks. You can purchase these combos with points you acquire at the end of each level. Throughout each level you collect red orbs and these orbs can be spent on healing items in the shop or other items the shop has to offer.

Nero has the ability to use his right arm to do some serious damage to enemies and his right arm also helps with some puzzles you come to in the game. Nero can also do things like evade, counter, run super fast, jump and other actions. One in particular is my favourite and thats the ability to use exceed. Dante on the other hand can do far more things and is by far the superior character (even though from the movies Nero seems better). Dante has better combos, better skills and other things. He also gets a skill called Devil Trigger, which Nero cant. At the end of each level you are given a rank. These ranks are pretty important. The higher the rank the more skill points you receive and the more chance of unlocking bits such as achievements or items. With skill points you can upgrade your skills and your ability to use swords, duel guns or other aspects. After completing the game you receive your rank and this rank can be uploaded to Xbox Live to see where you fair overall in the leaderboards.

Whilst you don't really get different weapons. Each character has different combos, weapons, skills and other items. The gameplay is full of action and you meet countless enemies. When you enter certain rooms/places you are trapped in them until you defeat all the demons. There are endless amount of demons to fight and lots of variety in them. There are also a lot of huge and beautifully designed bosses that you take on. Some of these bosses range from a giant frog (looks better than what it sounds) to a creature known as Berial. Berial is my favourite boss and also the first boss. Berial is better known as Fire Hell because thats exactly where he comes from. Throughout playing Devil May Cry 4 you meet new and old characters and you meet many different creatures. Overall all of this fits right into the gameplay category and it makes Devil May Cry 4 one of the best action games there is.

      === Graphics & Sound ===
The basic graphics to the game are pretty good. The scenery in the game stands out really well. In most games the scenery hardly gets noticed but in this one its really noticeable and it looks beautiful. One of the best things is the basic design of the characters in the game. I was very impressed with how all the characters look and the way they entered the game. Dante looks like Nero and to be fair it works well with the story of the game. Some of the other characters really do leave a good first impression on how they look and the movies they are inducted in. I also think the design of the demons is really good. The main creatures you fight are called Scarecrows and there are a lot of different types of Scarecrows. Each one look incredibly designed but the different demons you meet later in the game are much better designed and make the game even better in terms of graphics. One of the best parts about the graphics was how stunning the bosses looked. Berial looks amazing and HUGE. One of the other aspects to the graphics I was very pleased with was the movies in the game. They looked brilliant and made the story more interesting because of this. Overall the game has some stunning graphics and I was really pleased with this.

The sound effects are equally as good as the graphics. I will start by saying the music to the game is great and every place you visit has a different track. One of the better things with the music was the way the chosen track got faster when you have to be quick in doing a certain part of the game, or where it got slightly slower when nothing was happening. All of the characters are voice activated which is great and one of the surprises to me was the bosses are also voice activated. There is nothing more surprising than a giant frog talking to you. I was very impressed with the sound effects of the fighting elements in the game, especially when fighting the larger and more ferocious demon. Devil May Cry 4 does have a few annoying sound effects in the game and one is at the end of level screen. When your navigating through the screens its a really annoying sound, hard to describe. It sounds like an out of tune instrument mixed with a bang. Apart from that every other sound effect in the game is pretty much spot on and to be fair it cant be faulted.

      === Difficulty & Longevity ===
The controls to the game can be quite confusing at times but thats mainly due to the fact that there is absolutely loads of combos and skills to learn, master or even remember. The games menu screen is easy to navigate and understand. Some other parts in the game are quite tricky, for example there are so many ways to go and it doesn't tell you which way to go. The map isn't the best map to a game and can become a bit silly when trying to understand it. There is a part in the game where your right hand comes into play but it doesn't actually tell you what needs to be done, so its basically just guess work. While there are many ways to go on each level, the game itself has a variety of difficulty in it. The monsters are fairly easy to beat but to get a great rank on a certain level you have to be fast, great at finding the red orbs and skilled with building up your combos. Its harder than what it sounds. There are numerous ranks to obtain. The highest is an SS rank which is almost impossible to get. Another thing about the game is that the achievements can be quite tricky to acquire. That is pretty much most of it, everything else is quite easy and would suit most gamers. The bosses aren't very hard once you know how its done. At the beginning of the game there is also two difficulty levels to choose from. One being Human mode which is pretty much easy mode and the other being Devil Hunter mode which is for the more experienced gamer.

The longevity of the game is not to shabby in my opinion. There are a total of 20 levels and 10 of these levels you play as Nero, 8 as Dante then back to Nero for the last two. If you complete the game and get so many S or SS rankings you can play as Dante through all of them. It takes roughly around the 20 hour mark to complete the game but thats just on one mode. If you was to do both modes and get 100% completion, I would say your looking at 50 hours tops. Now thats not to bad in my eyes but if I was to be extremely critical of the game, about 3 hours is wasted purely on the movies in the game. I actually love the movies because it makes the story better but for the gameplay it definitely shades a few hours off it. Each mission can take a different amount of time to complete it all depends on the gamer to be fair. Overall the difficulty to the game is about right and the longevity could of been slightly improved with less movies.

      === Good Bits ===
*You get to play as both Dante and Nero throughout the game.
*Lots of different demons to destroy and lots of different and HUGE bosses to demolish.
*There are endless amounts of combos to learn, both characters have different combos and different skills.
*Devil May Cry 4 offers some beautiful graphics and some spectacular sound effects.
*You can upgrade your character with new abilities and lots more by using orbs you collect.
*You have to go through the game more than once.

      === Bad Bits ===
*The game can become quite repetitive in terms of levels and fighting.
*The game could prove slightly tricky to the amateur gamers.
*The achievements to the game are quite hard to get and there are 46 of them.
*No multiplayer options except for leaderboards which are pretty much pointless and impossible to get on.

      === Final Thought ===
Devil May Cry 4 is by far one of the best action games out there. It offers lots in terms of the variety in its gameplay. It also brings a new dimension to the graphics of an all out action game. The game offers some great sound effects and a good soundtrack. Capcom have made many popular games such as Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Street Fighter, Lost Planet and Devil May Cry 4 is very much up there with the best of them. Resident Evil games are Capcom's biggest selling games but the Devil May Cry games have always been close, maybe within a few years they might actually take over if they can keep this up. There isn't any multiplayer or online options in the game and this is quite a let down to me. There also isn't much downloadable content over Xbox Live so thats an even bigger disappointment and the only things you can download is a few Avatar items and a few videos. I am also very disappointed in the manual to the game. It offers very little in terms of support for playing the game. It doesn't list everything a manual should have. The game has a rating of 16+ and to be fair I cant really see why its so high. It doesn't have much strong language and it certainly doesn't contain anything that could offend younger gamers. I would recommend the game because its got a fantastic story and has lots of variety in its gameplay. The game is going for around £13 brand new from Amazon. However I bought mine used from Amazon and it cost me an incredibly cheap £5.63 and I feel with both prices its worth every penny. My copy came in great condition and looked as good as new. Overall the game is brilliant and I would recommend it. I would give Devil May Cry a solid 8/10.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Good to play if you have a long time to devote to it

I've played the DMC series on PS2 (DMC2 and DMC3) but I was slightly disappointed with this one.

The story follows the same way as the others, in that you have to fight off demons and pass levels (in DMC, called "Missions") You have to defeat a mission to get a score for the level, which is graded from S (special) downwards, and results in getting a different number of points that can be used to up skills or to learn new abilities.

This game differs in that you can play as either a human or a demon; with the human reccomended if you haven't played the game before. I played as the human, who is trying to hide their demon power from the others around him, yet is known by Dante, a character from the other games and also the playable demon character.

The graphics in this are, like the other games, astoundingly good. There's a level of detail in the background, cut scenes and the monsters that some games can't seem to keep up with. The gameplay can be a little confusing, as only basic instructions are given, and there is a possibility you could get lost (as I did on one of the levels) so you need to watch what you're doing. However, it is a highly enjoyable and playable game

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Devil May Cry is one of the best games you can play!

Devil May Cry 4, Capcom made us wait 3 years for this game. First time I played it was a really good experience, I got the x360 version and the graphics look good, but from what I've heard it looks even better on PC, still it's colorful and dynamic.
The cinematics are really good, full of action and emotions, the story slowly is revealed and get's better with each finished level. Story itself is romantic and dramatic, the love between Nero (main character) and Kyrie is really strong but she gets kidnapped by evil forces, then Dante ( other main character ) joins the fight with evil, some story twists make the game even better. Audio in the game is nothing special but good enough to satisfy your needs. The fast pace of game gives your fingers a good workout, the battles are great and the combo system showing ATOMIC! or SMOKING HOT! makes you feel good, and you enjoy killing opponents even more. Boss fights are a bit challenging and really hard on higher levels of difficulty, advanced players and DMC series lovers will be happy because of the challenge they'll get out of this single game.

Personally I love this game, because of the story, the battle system its fair and challenging, graphics will not get your eyes tired but happy and entertained. I advice you to play that game if you can, you won't regret it!

A great game that any DMC fan should pick up and if not give the demo a try.

Devil May Cry 4 lets you play as Nero and Dante in a typical DMC hack and slash action game.

Since you will be playing as a new character for most of the game this DMC can feel a bit different to the others. You go though stages fighting enemies and some really fun bosses.

Playing as Nero can be fun as he has a special arm which allows him to pull enemies closer to him to keep combos going but it wont be long before you start to wish you could play as Dante already. You will have to wait until stage level 11 until you play as him. Once you start to play as him you may be saying to yourself that you want Nero back as he is a lot easier to control however once you master Dante's 'Fighting styles' and his weapons he becomes more fun and lethal than Nero ever was. However when playing though as Dante you will be playing though the same stages with the same bosses which is annoying even though the layout of the level is changed. Also you will have to face the bosses a third time as Nero in a row for no reason which is pointless.

Devil May Cry 4 is a game that will last you hours because of the unlockable difficulty settings and a bonus mode called 'bloody place' where you face waves of enemies with bosses appearing every set wave. I have put well over 60 hours into it and still get urges to go back to it every now and then. Since this game has been out for a while and you can now get it cheap so give the demo a go. One thing to note is that the achievements in this game are quite difficult to achieve and I only managed to get 410G. This should not put you off but something to note if you buy games based on achievements.

Fun if your good at it

Devil may cry 4 the latest hack and slash adventure from the series

Story; You need to save the world from some crazy pope (no offense to the pope cos we is cool) like character who is possessed

Gameplay; You have missions and in each one you either have to get to the end of the level or collect a certain item. There are two characters to play as Nero, then Dante as you progress i think the game gets bettter attack wise as it gets allong but the levels then turn really complicated which i dont like and then there are many new enenies who all have annoying little quirks and certain ways to kill them which i hated and dont get me started on the mini bosses. Also you can buy health increasing things but they double in price each time so later its just impossible, if your good at it and you somehow know how to get around the place its great, if your like me and you need something to spam or cheat at in every game becausre your terreble at games maybye its not so much

Forms of attack:Sword with more combos than you can shake a stick at, guns which you can charge up by holding down X, and in Neros case a demon claw thing then later in the game you get even more crazy weapons inclu a briefcase machinegun rocketlauncer thingy.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Great game to suit old and new fans.

Devil may cry 4 is one of those games that when you start playing you just cant put it down.
I've got every Devil May Cry game to date and this is one of my favourites!
The action is full and requires alot of button bashing, to kill the monsters.
The graphics are a massive step up to the others in the series and i never found a single graphics glitch. The downside i found was the camera angle can sometimes be placed in the most oddest of angles that makes even simple jumps a pain.
The fights are great and the music changes to a great rock beat, you have a sword to start with and a gun. Every attack you do is graded for example if you pull of some really long cool looking attacks you get a score of A but repete the same move you get a C.
This in itself makes you want to pull off long combos just so you can brag about having a great score.
The game is quite easy to start and the boss battles can be hard sometimes only due to the camera angle.
The music is creepy untill you run into monsters to fight then it changes to a good rock beat, this change in music really makes the game feel cool.
Its not a mega long game (5-6 days of play) but after you play though you can play again on a more harder setting, this adds a good reply factor so you keep going playing over and over.
Although the game doesnt offer too much thats new to the series it offers enough for the fans to be happy, and to continue a very long story.

            Now for the scores.

Graphics 8/10 - Nice smooth graphics

Sound 8/10 - Great music to suit every stage in the game

Gameplay 8/10 - Very easy to pick up and play very hard to put down.

Overall 8/10 - A great action game to suit those old and new to the series.

            Disadvantages

            Good buy overall

This is a really good game for the xbox.
I don't normally don't go for the type of game but after my husband was nagging me to play it so much because he loved it a gave in.
This game has an exciting story with hours of game play which gets you hooked and you wont be able to put it down.

This is the first one in the series that I have actually played and I'm really glad i did.

To begin with the game starts off with basic moves but as you begin to gain more experience in this hack and slash game you learn lots of different combos of attacks and this is a real help when it comes to boss fights that can sometimes be quite difficult.

The graphics for this game are great, the sheer amount of detail of the monsters and characters is great and really compliments this game.

            Overall a good buy.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A great game, but not an amazing follow-up if your into the series

As a new-comer to this series, i have no doubt you'll enjoy this game, it has a long story mode with various difficulties that contains hours of gameplay with an exciting story that slowly unfolds that keeps you hooked throughout.

the way the platformer control's is great and the originality and visual effects are amazing. The creators have even incorporated a Tutorial which was not featured in previous releases which makes it even more accessible for the players.

but to be very honest with you, after playing the previous 3 games to death, and the new released came out, i grabbed a copy as soon as i could, but when i started to play it, i was very disappointed... Why?
The game is in it's 4th installment, and the atmosphere and control over the game is exactly the same as it was back in the day with the original game.

In my opinion, titles this far in a series need something new to make it exciting, after playing the exact same game 3 times with different levels, this is nothing special for the veteran gamers.

Undoubtedly, its a great game, but as a returning fan, don't expect anything special besides a new story with the expected twists.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Definitely a game you want to get, specially if you like slaying demons with overized swords!

I picked up this game out of interest, after hearing a lot of hype about this series. It's made by Capcom, the same people responsible for Megaman, and Resident evil.
I put the game into the console, not really knowing what to expect, and immediately i was glad i had picked it up.
Upon starting the game i was continually aware of the "power" of the game character, called Nero. Capcom boasts about this game having a lot of ways to dispatch those evil demon enemies, and they didn't lie.
You get a revolver with two barrels, and a large sword. Using them both is fun, and effective, and you'll soon be removing demons from existence.
Not only that, you are encouraged to use over the top combos, gun blasts, and even the special gauntlet, the devil arm, which lets you pick up enemies and fling them around.
All this adds up a style meter, and upon reaching the top you get to unlock the demonic trigger, allowing you to become a demon yourself, with regenerating health, and much more damage capability.
The visuals are stunning, time slowing down during specific moves to show you exactly what happens, sparks flying around, and a beautifully detailed backdrop.
The sound is immersive, and appropriate, demons screeching, swords clashing, and taunts from Nero, it doesn't stop, the music really getting you into that fighting mood.
One thing I didn't like was the save system. Upon completing mission 3, and saving, before going to the mission screen to check my stats, I was sad to discover i now had to redo mission 3 to advance again.
I don't know why this is, but as long as you're careful, it's not too much of a problem.
Another thing was that the cutscenes seemed to slow down and jag sometimes, again i don't know why, but it's annoying.
In conclusion though, I highly recommend you buy this game, whatever console you're playing on, and if you enjoy swords, guns, and destroying demons, it's even better.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Perhaps a shallow experience, but a fun one nonetheless

Now, I've never played a Devil May Cry game before, but I was attracted to this one when I tried out the demo on Xbox Live shortly before the release.

The demo enticed me in with its beautiful environments, impressive animation and complex but intuitive skill-based combat system.

The full game doesn't disappoint. Devil May Cry 4 is essentially a really elaborate hack n slash game, and it is on this level that it succeeds. The combat is a hell of a lot of fun, and as you get better at the game you find yourself pulling off more and more impressive combos and fighting with multiple baddies with increasing finesse.

You have three main tools at your disposal - your main weapon is your massive sword, then there's a similarly oversized pistol, and a glowing magical arm, with which enemies can be picked up and slammed against the floor. By using these three tools in tandem, it's possible to simultaneously keep multiple enemies out of action whilst you slice them up with a range of impressive combos.

Combat is fluid and fun, although in Manual combo mode (in my opinion most fun to play, there is also a more Arcade-y Automatic mode), this isn't really a button basher. You have to stay calm and press the right buttons at the right times to pull off the right moves in the right situations... it's all quite tactical really.

And of course, when you pull off the right move in the right situation at the right time, the eye candy is terrific. The detail of the environments, monsters and characters is immense, the lighting effects are beautiful, and the whole game is steeped in gothic atmosphere.

There are certain elements of this game that are lackluster. For example, the game is very linear by todays standards. The plot is also rather thin, and any dialogue in the game is shallow and a bit pointless. Let me get to the combat, you think. Perhaps it would be nice to blend together the great graphics and combat with some more RPG / adventure type elements for a deeper experience?

On the other hand, this is ultimately an arcade game, and plays like one. The action is fast and fluid, and it's full of big bangs and bombastic action movie moves. If this sounds like something you'd like, I recommend this game. Otherwise, if you want something a bit more deep and involving, you'll probably get a bit bored.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Good game.

Devil May Cry 4 is an action game for the Microsoft Xbox 360 games console.

In this game you play initially as a new character called Nero, who looks almost identical to the hero in previous games Dante. Do not fret as Dante does make appearances in the game and is playable in the later part of the game.

The gameplay is a mix of gun and swordplay, the gun play is quite boring as you just mash the button continually to fire your weapons the guns also feel very weak although as Dante you can get better weapons. The sword fighting is pretty fun and definitely the highlight of the game, it is stylish and the animation is very good quality. It is great fun to string together the two styles for combos which are really great to look at and fun to perform.

In this game there are also many boss fights, from gigantic fire demons, massive demon frogs you will be impressed by these.
The graphics in this game are really good, the characters look very detailed and the animations are slick and look amazing. The environment's also very detailed but sadly not very interactive.

Like the previous games this game is quite hard so prepare to throw your controller down in frustration a few times! However the difficulty has been turned down a bit.

You can get this stylish action game for around 20 to 30 pounds

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Worth the money and the time, an adventure that's difficult to disregard.

DMC 4 is possibly the best installment of the series, and with this rather impressive claim I find we'd be hard pressed to deny it. The new additions in DMC 4 may make a few call it DMC 3 and a half but these additions are more then just features added onto the existing battle engine, on the contrary these additions have completely changed the way a player deals with combat!

Though a few people would disapprove of the fact you're not playing as Dante throughout the entire game the fact that the new character has been given his own fighting style is a testament to the diversity you're going to be experiencing.

There are a few things that were a let down however.

The story line in my opinion held great potential but many of those twists thrown at you are rather predictable. Then again not many players pursue the game with story in mind, so moving onto combat elements.

The combat is smooth. Very smooth. Having the ability to switch combat styles on the fly rather then having to visit a shrine is a huge and welcome relief, and it was this very ability that in my opinion changed the entire feel of combat for this game. You are no longer heading towards your goal with a combo set equipped but with a huge and vast combination of moves that you can potentially chain together. There are generally only two things stopping you.

1: Can your fingers and mind chain them fast enough?
2: Can you find something that won't die too fast?

Definitely a game I could see myself playing again and again.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

not a bad game overall, but too similar to old versions.

Like many others, i was and am a HUGE devil may cry fan. having played the original through to the fourth, i havent missed a single one.

unfortunutly devil may cry 4 was a disapointment. it was exactly the same as the old versions, with the difference of the character. you use a character named nero instead of dante. but even the character change method has been used before. so really, nothing is new.

im not saying devil may cry 4 is a rubbish game, far from. im saying that its exactly the same as all of the pevious versions. and that if you didnt like them, you wont like this version.

Putting aside the fact that this game is very similar to the previous ones. devil may cry 4 has a lot of fast paced action, and the usual sarcastic tone. each big battle scene is met by the sarcastic ignarance that the characters have always shown, brushing off each fight as if it was a mere stepping stone in the journey. and the majority of the time they are.

each fight gets bigger, each new creature has some sort of feature that you will have to face. wether that be flying, or 10 feet long claws firing at you from all directions. but it does tend to get boring, there isnt really much more they can do in the way of new creatures to slaughter.

one thing which has always pleased me with the devil may cry series is the fact that you can not button bash constantly, unless you set it to automatic. this feature is the same as always.

the annoying, yet fun thing that always accompanies devil may cry is the blaightently obvious clues they give you, that you must try and figure out. without them it just wouldnt be devil may cry, and just to let you know. they havent skipped them in devil may cry 4, their still here.

overall devil may cry is a good and well made game, but its so much alike from the old ones, which is its major downfall.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

For DMC lovers only, to be honest

              =Introduction=

I love the Devil may Cry series and bought this game as soon as it was released. Obviously as a lover of the series, I bought the Limited Edition. It features a metal tin, and a small artbook from the game. These are the only differences from the original edition which is quite disappointing, especially when compared to the Animé DVD released for the American Limited Edition.

              =Gameplay=

DMC4 features the regular hack'n'slash action to be expected from the series. DMC4 features a new character, Nero, and with the new character comes new functions. Nero's sword can be revved like a motorbike, which is done so by pressing Left trigger repeatedly to "charge" the sword. Once charged, the player can execute a wider and more powerful variety of moves depending on the number of slots charged up. In my opinion, this is a nice touch although you can find yourself playing whilst your left hand spasms trying to constantly charge it up.

Nero's main weapon is his Devil Bringer arm, which is initiated by the B button. This is one of the greatest ideas ever, I think, as it can be used to bring enemies towards you, which tackles an annoying part of the previous games. The arm can also be used to execute a special attack, which too, is awesome, as the move varies depending on what enemy Nero is fighting. This adds an element of surprise to the game, and as you face new enemies you are curious as to what Nero will do to bring the pain.

              =Storyline=

I won't spoil the actual storyline for you, however, the player gets to paly as Nero AND Dante in this game, Nero for the first half, and Dante for the second. This means re-mastering controls half-way through the game which prevents the game becoming boring. Dante has 4 "modes" or "stances" as such, which is switched using the D-pad. However, the player is forced to repeat many of the levels backwards playing as Dante instead of Nero. This is sheer rubbish from the makers (haha). The game quickly becomes boring after this point. I suppose one good point after the half-way point is that Dante does his usual thing of gaining new weapons from the bosses you beat which are pretty good. However, I am not impressed that you are unable to use the Sparda Sword after completing the game, despite the fact that Nero is carrying it at the end(!)

              =Graphics=

The only thing that was lacking in the previous DMC games (well, apart from 3), was good graphics. However taking advantage of the 360's Xenos graphics chip, the DMC4 graphics don't disappoint. The detail is spectacular which makes those fighting cut-scenes that bit more astounding.

              =Sound=

The sound effects are fairly average. They are relevant and realistic, however Dante's constant use of "YAH!" every time you press Y and UP becomes so irritating it's untrue. Repetition of speech whilst fighting is a major downfall in this game which something could've been done about, really.

              =Conclusion=

For me, as a DMC lover, the game was a must buy for the 360. However it was a slight disappointment when you consider that the gameplay is only half as long due to the fact that you repeat most of them, just with Dante. The weapons unlocked by Dante are a slight disappointment and really, no better than the weapons you start with (with the exception of Pandora's Box). Overall, if you love DMC then you need to get this, just to satisfy your hack'n'slash needs. However, in my opinion, DMC4 does not beat the third installment of the series which I personally think was the best one. If you don't own a 360, don't buy one just for this game.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Devil May Cry 4 is perfect for those without a ps2, who havent yet experienced DMC's awesomeness

FINALY IT COMES TO XBOX 360! When i first got a ps2 i was given this game and i thought it was amazing. I dont think i stopped playing it for...days...weeks...months...until i started playing xbox ...and then xbox 360....until the game was lost to me.
Devil May Cry takes you into the anime world. Number 4 is so similar to the previous 3, same layout, same mission settings, same red Orbs to collect however you are not the same character to begin with. No longer where you the incredible Dante with his own built guns Ebony and Ivory. You start as Nero with his own twin shot revolver, Red Queen sword and Devil Bringer (demonic arm) but it just didnt have the same effect as the first games, you still live in the anime world and can pull off some incredible moves linking sword, arm and gun attaks. But you do get to play as Dante later on in the game, so the origional kick-ass semi devil is still around. There is also the origional rating system for combos, D-SSS being 'Smokin' Sick Style' which is still awesome but its just not as impressive as the first games. The moves you can pull off are amazing, unlocking combos and special moves linked to your selected style, "trickster" was always my favorite. You can switch between devil power and normal which adds a furthur dimention to the moves.
The game has excelent in game fighting as they all have, viewing the charecter from a 3rd person view. The missions are long but amazing, so much fighting and sord/gun/arm play about it. It really makes you want to be the charecter because they are just so awesome.
I definatly recomend this game to those who have not played Devil May Cry before. Its a great game to go on if you just want to fight some puppet zombies with some amazing combos and moves. The game for me was not as good as the previous 3, but to finaly be able to play it on Xbox 360 is excelent. It really involves you making you wish you where in the game. Overall i give it a 8 out of 10. Great game to just sit and be absorbed by.
