You promised me the Moon, but you gave me chips. This is the type of feeling I have whenever I play a new Peter Molyneux game. Molyneux is the man behind setting up Bullfrog and now of Lionhead studios and has made such games as 'Dungeon Keeper' and 'Fable'. He is notorious in the games industry for being fantastical in his promises for a game. Open worlds, fully customisable characters, hundreds of ending - all promised, all broken. I have no issue with chips at all. I like most kinds be they chunky, French fries or even the American potato chips (or crisps). What I do mind is being offered the Moon and only getting a plate of chips. Chips are good, but I don't ... Read the complete review

Peter Molyneux and his Lionhead Studios had a point to prove with this sequel, as the whole 'choose your own destiny' virtual life shtick of the original Fable didn't seem to wash with either the gaming press or players, who found the whole experience not unpleasant but somewhat more shallow and superficial than suggested. Lionhead have kindly spared all these critics a job though, as to accurately summarise Fable 2 is to click 'Edit', suffix '2' to the title and click 'Publish' - as 'somewhat more shallow and superficial than suggested' is the phrase which readily springs to mind when summing up this sequel. That's not to say there's a great deal wrong with the main ... Read the complete review

Back in 2004, Peter Molyneux and his gaming company Lionhead Studios delivered Fable for the old Xbox. It was a highly anticipated game, with a lot of hype behind its back not only from Lionhead's previous game, the hugely successful Black & White for PC, but also because Peter made a lot of promises and got people excited way too much. That's probably why, when Fable was delivered in 2004 after two years of hype, people came away disappointed. It was far from poor, there were some decent qualities that really stood out, but because Molyneux had hyped up the game so much, many people realised it was just talk. It's been four years, and the sequel has been ... Read the complete review

Difficulty: Easy Learning Curve: Around 10 minutes Being a big fan of Lionhead Studios, the creators of such games as Fable and Black and White, I had very high hopes for their "Revolutionary" sequel to their Fable franchise, Fable 2. Upon playing said game however, you cannot but help to be disappointed at how it eventually turned out. With Lionhead Studio's first appearance on the current generation of consoles, you would hope for something great to come out of this. Unlike its predecessor, Fable 2 is set 500 years into the future from the time of the first game, where the age of heroes has past, and the rise of economic depression, ... Read the complete review

Fable 2 is a fantasy role-playing game for the Xbox 360. I never played Fable 1 - I'd never even heard of it - but this was on special offer on amazon and one of my friends said it was good. I've been looking for a successor to Baldur's Gate 2 for years now, and hoped this might be the one. It's not. The idea seems to have been to give the player a fairly non-linear gaming experience, with plenty of things to do and explore that aren't related to the main storyline. While it does do that, kind of, there's nowhere near enough extra stuff to keep one occupied for that long. Yes, you can get married (to several people at once), have children, do various mundane ...
