Advantages: Interesting and vast new area, scary new creatures and a lot of new exciting side quests.
Disadvantages: Confusing and short main quest and useless new weapons
Point Lookout is the third addon for the RPG Fallout 3 and is, quite possibility, the best.
Point Lookout takes place in "Point Lookout", a large new area which was unaffected by the nuclear holocaust that happened in the Capital Wasteland. This means that "Point Lookout" is marsh-like, full of strange plants and harbours crazy new swamp creatures. This new environment is a great change from the boring barren wastelands and the new creatures look like they've been taken directly from a Lovecraft novel, which is not a bad thing at all. Point Lookout is also very dangerous with the less than friendly inbred locals and the blood thirsty cannibals that roam the swamps looking for new adventurers to feed on. These cannibals are very terrifying when they sneak up behind you late at night.
The main quest involves the Lone Wonderer negotiating with the natives and discovering the secrets of the local plant known as the Punga Plant. The main quest is a great adventure but is a bit too short and it was a bit hard to follow at times.
There are also a lot of side quests in Point Lookout. One side quest in particular involves the Lone Wonderer becoming a Chinese spy. It was very thrilling and a nice shake up from the tiresome fetch quests found in Fallout 3. The side quests are far better than the main quest.
Along with adventuring Point Lookout you'll encounter new weapons, such as the satisfying Microwave Emitter, a device that makes enemies heads blow up. Other than that the arsenal found in Point Lookout useless compared to great weapons like the Terrible Shotgun and the Lincoln Rifle.
Summary: Point Lookout is the best Fallout 3 DLC. Period.
