Farcry 3 is a great game. Do I need to say more, yes but I shouldn't have to. You play as a young man who goes on holiday with his brother and friends. It all starts going wrong when they are kidnapped. The game then throws you head first into the open world with you trying to escape the kidnappers camp. I don't want to say to much about the story as this is best experienced.
The great thing about the game is you don't have to do the story missions straight away. You can explore the world and hunt. Yes you can hunt the animals on the island. This can be a little gruesome so not for the light hearted. There are radio towers located all over the island and you need to activate these to reveal all the locations and hunting areas on the map. For each tower you unlock you also get access to free equipment in the shops which can be very helpful.
The world can be very dangerous and it can get very hot if using the flame-thrower. If you use this be prepared to burn down local grass fields and you may need to run.
The game's controls work really well and are very responsive. The aiming takes a little to get used to especially when using the bow. So really plan your missions before running in guns blazing.
The game also features a crafting system in which you use the skins you collect from your hunting. This adds another fun level to the game and encourages you to explore all the areas.
I have spent countless hours on this game without even playing the main story so in my opinion this game is well worth the money.
Farcry 3 was a highly anticipated game for 2012, with many gamers loving the other games in the series (Farcry and Farcry 2) they couldn't wait to get their hands on this one.
Farcry puts you on a tropical island with the one thing that almost anyone loves in a game, FREEDOM! With the open world opportunities you could spend hours exploring the whole island without a second thought for the actual campaign missions and the many side-questions and bonus missions.
Farcry brings the island to life with it's open-world options, with numerous amounts of animals roaming around in jungles and forests, fields and even oceans! "You're gonna need a bigger boat."
The game features a simple and basic story-line towards the start of the game which may put many people off, however, after a while this simple story adapts into something a lot deeper which will make you become even more immersed in Farcry's game-play.
Voice acting can seen a little weak with some characters, however these are the 'Less' important character as you will have little interaction with these people and play little, or no part in any of the story that would get in the way of your gaming experience. The graphics of this game really make up for this though, as there is little textures not loading and almost every object in the game has been modeled well and doesn't affect the game-play. Despite Farcry being such a big open world, the game manages well to keep the loading screens to a minimum and this can be extremely useful if you need to enter a safe house quite often as loading screens would get very annoying with this.
Stealth plays a major part in this as well, as a posed to the usual run and gun, as with a lot of open-world games, and other games not encouraging you to do this, Farcry allows you to add different attributes to Jason through the use of the Tatao, which is a mystical type of tattoo granting a large variety of special abilities which can aid in your fight against taking down Vaas, probably one of the greatest and funniest game characters since that of the Portals, GLaDOS. Vaas' quick wit and funny dialog make him one of the game characters you don't really want to harm because he's so amusing to the gaming audience.
In my opinion i would definitely recommend picking this game up, especially at the price that it is now, there are hours upon hours of this game just waiting to be played, and the jungles of the island are just waiting for you to come and explore them. It allows you to tackle a mission or side quest anyway you want and this could easily be one of the best games of the year. Like a lot of people are saying at the moment, Farcry; Skyrim with guns.
