FIFA conquers PES once again. For too long EA have played safe with the FIFA legacy while PES 2009 gained strength each year. This year though, FIFA really blew away all competition. Old favourites return including 'Manager Mode' and the epic 'Be A Pro' mode which allows you to create a player and play as him throughout his career, you improve him as he gains more experience, get called up to the first team and then hopefully your country where you fight to be part of the squad for a 'World Cup' style international tournament. The new 'Ultimate Team' mode allows you to build a 'dream team' in a trading card style game - sounds complicated, but works really well. Online singles and club play are as strong as ever. There is a downside - online play has opened up to a wave of cheaters who are manipulating player and club stats to force advantage in online play and from there boost there own leaderboard stats. However, as a football game this cannot be beaten and you will find it very difficult to put down. As always the complete range of licenses for player names, club names, kits etc is a major pro for this game. EA really got it right this time, my faith in FIFA was fully restored!
